Im just about pull the trigger on a touring exhaust for my GT and wondered if anyone knows if there are any differences in sound? Both use the center resonator and have black tips. The only difference I can see is the markings, ford says ford racing by borla the other borla. There is a 200 quid price difference?!

No difference so far as I know. With the Ford one you are paying for their homologation/endorsement. Nice to have but not for £200;imho.

My understanding was that the FR version was louder than the borla version? The tips are a different size/shape as well

This was what I was thinking too. I think its as bit confusing as I'm sure the FR touring at some point had an x pipe now it has the centre resonator.

My borla touring sounds great and has never given me the slightest bother.

How much louder is it than the stock? I'm looking for ten to 15 percent increase. Now all I need is to stop the lady buying g stuff for the house and I can get one bought.

Yea, I'd go for 15% in a totally subjective kind of way. It's not one of those ear splitting kills conversation until you go past exhausts. A very pleasant burble inside the car and you can hear the mustang come round a nearby corner before you see it when you're outside. It's definitely a "look up" rather than a "dive for cover" amount of noise. Personally I love it, I think it's just the right amount of noise and I'm not a hoon.

I'm in Sussex so if you're anywhere near you can have a listen.

Hi @maddog1982 ,

We currently have the Borla Black Tip Touring in stock and with the Mustang6g discount this comes in at £1423.06 Inc VAT & Delivery. So there is a bit of a saving over the FP system listed.

In the web link below there is a sound comparison video below between their three options of exhausts:

https://nemesisuk.com/products/must...-exhaust-140589bc?_pos=2&_sid=be672b369&_ss=r

The system in the ebay link you provided for the Ford Performance System has a much longer centre resonator to pass homologation and believe it should be no louder than 94 dB so you will get a slightly better exhaust note but may be disappointed in it not being much louder than the stock exhaust. The additional cost in the Ford Performance systems also takes into account they have a slightly nicer double wall tip rather than inward rolled tip on the standard Borla Systems.

We could also bring this FP System in and would be at a price of £1546.64 Inc VAT & UK Delivery. We would however be looking around 2-3 weeks if happy to wait.

Thank you so much for explaining the differences! So the borla touring would be better for me as I'm after more volume with rap! Did not know you offered forum discount!!

No worries, The Borla Touring is a great system and has the more deeper / bassy tone over the x3 sound options Borla offer.

Yes we offer a forum discount with code Mustang6g on our website or can be applied over the phone if you wish to call us up. I haven't been very active on here lately as we have a lot going. We will be doing some deveolopment and adding more mods to our Mustang over winter. So should be a bit more active over the next few months with posting them up!

Thanks Guy, I am going to see what pennies I have lying about and do some man maths over the weekend. To me part of owning a V8 car is the sound and the current system is far to quiet except for cold starts or when you have windows down. I promised I would not mod this car........................................... So far FP shift knob and hood struts, and I want uprated sway bars to kill the body roll. Sigh

I recorded my exhaust for Matt, but if anyone else comes across this thread and wants to know what it sounds like - Borla Touring Catback - here it is.

Well today I took delivery of a Borla touring system with black tips from Nemesis. I cannot praise how good this company are to deal with. Makes such a nice change.
