Just curious to see what options are out there to protect my paint during HPDE events.

A little OPR never hurt anything.

I know some people use plastidip and there is a clear temporary tape/film you can use for events.

Clear bra was the best thing I ever did
Thanks, that is what i am thinking as well. Did you put it in front of the rear tires as well. I see that this area is getting hit as well.

I had a big turbo 15 Ecoboost mustang that I tracked and the whole car was peppered after only 9k miles.

So when i got my Gt350 I did everything from the a pillar forward including side mirrors and light.

I also did the rear quarter like you said. It runs from the top of the wheel well to the door and has saved the paint. So far I’ve only had one small gash, couldn’t imagine how bad it would have been without it.

Ha Ha I got plenty of that, my car is black like yours so I don't mind the rubber. Its the paint chips I want to prevent if possible.

Its already too late, the worst area is in front of the rear tires, i guess the 305 tires on front throw a lot of small rocks and sand back there.

The good part is that the fun outweighs the paint chips!!

It makes it more fun to not see those chips when the car gets washed after.

After my experience with it, I’d clear bra my entire car.

^Yes, once I buy a PP2 or something else to use as a DD/HPDE car.

It's coming home from the dealership, getting a full paint correction detail (yes they still need it after just being delivered) and the entire car is getting a clear bra.

I figure that's going to be a $3k hit just after it comes home.

On my RS, the forums were livid about rock chips on the cars but mine never really had that fate.

Even with 1800-3000 track miles (who knows, but it was a lot), my car only had Optimum gloss coat for protection and had maybe 5 rock chips.

So that's what I did with the Mustang.

I haven't done anything to save my paint. Have a few chips here and there from the track. Maybe if I had a more special car like a GT350 or something more expensive? Then I'd probably do some clear bra.

I will say "OPR" (little black rubber streaks) is a major pain to remove from a white car!

The quote i got for 3M full car PPF was $4,500 and that did not count the paint protection which is another 1K
