It was a gimmick 10 years ago. It's pretty darn reliable now.

Anyway, back to the original subject - I priced my 2017 GT as a 2018. All the same options + the new 2018 options that come as a part of 401a; This required the Safe and Sound package, etc. to get a match to mine today plus a few more options. It was about ~$2000 more which would account for the digital speedo and a few other things.

If it helps you understand where I'm coming from, I can't imagine myself talking to my car to get it to do anything. Ever. It's a 'thing', and I tell it what I want it to do with pedals, switches, levers, knobs and such.

Now, I might swear at it if something about it broke, went inop, or if the car was to suddenly start talking to me, but that's different and I wouldn't expect the car to understand either religion or basic biological functions.

When you've got over 600 of the things (actual count, not a guess), why wouldn't you?

Never mind that working through some fiddly menu is the last thing I want to have to do in order to find what I want to listen to, when I can go straight to any given disc in less time.

Norm
I have about 100... from the 90's. I ripped them to the hard drive long ago. Seriously, it takes 10x more time to fumble through cds as it does to queue something up in the Sync 3. I only had about 5 minutes to play with it and had it figured out.

I understand your preference. Just giving you a hard time. :)

Talking to "things" is a thing in 2017.
I enjoyed this derailment. After attending the wasen here in Germany last weekend and feeling like I am ancient (16 y/o kids fill the tents), it was a relief to know I am not always the old guy in the room.

So... question.

If you talk to your car or phone or other device that recognizes voice recognition, is that talking to yourself if nobody is around?

I talk to my car now, and it doesn't have voice recognition. I have to help coerce the old thing. :D

Might as well be, if the percentage of times I get the "Sorry, I did not get that" from phone answering systems where I can't get to a live person is any indication. Hence, for all intents and purposes our new UHD TV will remain blissfully deaf.

Back on the original topic, sort of... There is a dealer close to me with two 2018 white and black 1SS 1LE Camaros, both discounted to $41k from $46k and another with an all black one a few more miles away discounted to $42k.

Man, I really want to hold out for the Mustang, but the 1SS 1LE is a lot of car for the money. I just don't know if I can deal with the less classy, over the top styling of the camaro at my age of 42 yrs old.

For $41k, you get brembos on all 4 corners, pzero super car tires, 20 inch forged wheels with decent offsets, lowered ride height, magnetic shocks, 4 driving modes, active exhaust, lap timers, electronic limited slip, dual clutch, recaros with leather and alcantara, alcantara flat bottom steering wheel, by all accounts awesome steering, black accents including black hood, functional hood vents, 455 ft lbs and 455 HP, 12 inch digital dash, etc...

To even come close to all that, the 2018 mustang would be near if not over 50 grand given the new pricing. Still no idea what will be included in the PP2, but I doubt leather and alcantara recaros unless you get the Premium. These are 1SS by the way. The 2SS goes even further than the 1SS. Also, I doubt the mustang will see any rebates for a while.

Ugh, decisions decisions.

Nice features but not being able to see anything would be kind of a bitch the entire time of driving the car.

Totally with you, expect important point that all of the 1LE models only come with a 6 speed manual, there's no dual clutch.

Yeah, I don't want an automatic anyway.

I meant twin disc clutch which I'm pretty sure it has. I installed one in my LS powered Chevelle. I used a hydraulically actuated McLeod dual plate clutch rated for 800 ft lbs but had the pedal feel of a Civic.

A couple months ago, there was 2017 1SS 1LE's as low as $36,9xx brand new. I still see some pop up for under $40k.

Haven't seen any 2017s near me; just these three 2018s already discounted. Doesn't mean they don't exist, ill have to broaden my search to see what's out there.
