People are walking otd, right now, with 2017 GT with PP at $28-32k. They shipped 11 months ago.

People will do the same in 09/2018 and its completely realistic to anticipate that after rebates, incentives, and a little negotiating you will get to $30-35k for a 2018 GT PP w/ Magneride. Sales tax will obviously change the equation, but in many states it is minimal or capped (not your home state obviously).

Let’s agree to disagree and put a pin in this issue until next September before we GIF ourselves out.
We are definitely winning the tax game in SC. It feels good to have an OTD price very close to the actual price of the car.

There won't be any tunes for awhile on the new V8 due to the duel fuel system and it's complexity. I see a much less reliable mustang for the first time in 25 yrs.

The problem is that 301A should be standard.
If Ford wanted to expand the range they needed to move in both directions, up and down, not just up and more up.
You think there should be lower priced Mustangs but you also think Ford should include more in the lowest priced Mustang.

That seems like a contradiction unless the 301A part suppliers want to pay Ford to take the parts.

Ford knows that the higher priced options will drive sales away which is probably why they're adding more features to the base GT like what is in the 301A package.
Exactly what is in the 301A package? Serious question, as I can't get to the 'Build & Price' pages to find that out via the information link that I used to see. Best I can recall from the last time I could get there was that it was way too much money for only one or maybe two things in it that I might want . . . plus several other things that I'd consider paying a small 'delete fee' to not be forced to have.

That aside, moving stuff from option to standard fitment turns me off even more than raising the price of option packages because when more is added at the base level you lose the option of not having things you don't want there at all.

I said nothing of the sort, don't make a straw-man. I was responding to a statement that Ford was trying to spread out it's price range and that is all.

It would probably be cheaper for Ford to just drop 300A and reduce their parts bin.

301A is Sync3, more speakers, dual zone climate control and selectable drive modes.

Cruise control costs basically nothing, and A/C is a couple hundred dollars for a manufacturer. The new fuel system is half the cost of the Mustang price increase alone.
301A costs $2000 for a slightly better radio and dual zone climate control. PerfPack is $4000 for a couple of braces, better tires/rims and different springs/shocks. Since Ford is not paying for the take-offs on those, the actual price difference is probably only a few hundred bucks.

The 301A is not standard and includes a lot of features that were bundles into the Premium previously. \

301A Includes All 300A (Base GT) Features, Plus:

• 9 Speaker Stereo System with Single-CD Player
• Ambient Lighting with MyColor® and 4.2" Cluster
• Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (DEATC)
• Selectable Drive Modes with Toggle Switches
• SiriusXM® Radio
• SYNC®3 – Enhanced Voice Recognition Communications and Entertainment System
• 8" LCD Capacitive Touchscreen in Center Stack
• AppLink®
• 911 Assist®
• Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™
• Smart-Charging USB ports – two (2)

Basically it allows the base option to get a lot of the Premium "Electronic" features without the Premium Leather and other visual features. For example Leather, heated/cooled seats, custom stitching, pony projection, fog lights, improved back end are Premium features not included.

Ford got a lot of negative feedback that the Base GT didn't include Complex Drive modes and had a tiny screen that made backing up harder. Also the number "phone" buttons on the standard base were atrocious.

$2K is nothing to scoff at, but Voice Assistance Sync 3 was a $795 itself as a stand alone addition to the 2017's.

LED fog lights are standard on the base GT as is the rear diffuser, LED headlights.

The 301A adds additional items that used to be exclusive to the Premium.

I love the fact that you can have almost the same stuff as the premium minus the leather and other trivial things like illuminated sill plates and pony projection mirror lights. If they didnt, offer the sync3, bigger screen, selectable drive modes, or LED lights, I would go up to the premium and have to pay for the other stuff I don't care about. I really don't want the Ford leather, so 301A on a base GT is perfect. I'm sure there are other buyers like me who want a nice between balance of options.

Nice I thought Fog lights and Diffuser were premium specific, Thanks for the clarification! I really enjoy them offering someone the Premium features on the base. I think they chose to do that this year because they have the Digital Dash 401A that is still creating interest and luring people to the Premium model. Last year if they offered the full 301A, as it is now, I'm not sure people would have had any incentive at all to pay the jump to Premium.

Thanks much for that list.

Side note to Cgocifer . . . as long as the base stereo system offers CD capability, the only thing on that list that much interests me is the selectable drive modes, and even that's kind of a 'maybe' for the available reduced throttle response in the 'bad weather' mode. I just don't have any use for anything else in that package.

Yup, 301A gets the 9 speaker stereo with single CD. All the details for each package are on the ford build site. Just click on the exclamation point for each package and it will list the details. Can do the same for the 300A package which is the standard features for the base GT.

Also, just a note that you can only get the active exhaust on the base with the 301A package. You can't choose active exhaust without the 301A. On the premium, you can get the active exhaust without 401A.

These choices are why I'm not bothered by the 2018 price increase. May actually save me a tiny amount because now I don't have to go for the premium to get what I want. Base + 301A + PP1 or 2 + active exhaust. 42k (44k with the PP2).

That's what I used to be able to do. But for some unknown reason I haven't been able to even get into those pages these last few days.

http://shop.ford.com/build/mustang/#/select/

The old link (that you may have bookmarked) has been replaced with their updated build with new info not available on the one from July-August. The old build site is messed up now because they stopped updating it and replaced with their "Final Build Site"

↑↑↑ no better than starting from Ford.com (not bookmarked either). Still can't build.
