Hi everyone,

After 2 months my front passenger has started to produce knocking noise when the front is on uneven ground. I've read all the all threads on this forum that have similar symptoms. Before I start with what I have tried, I have not adjusted the height of the front struts since I received it. The shop (Airlift Performance authorized) that installed the kit also did not adjust it as well as it was instructed by Airlift. Damping is at stock setting base on the booklet instruction. There is absolutely no rubbing to any components and the wheel.

What had I tried so far? Base on all the threads, everyone suggested it may be the locking collar. Airlift told me the best method is using a rubber hammer and a flat head to tighten up the collar. I smacked the collar really good as tight as I think it can get since it ain't moving at all. I checked all the bolts just in case. camber plates bolts are at torque spec. Lower mounts and brake bolts are good as well.

I went for a test drive the noise remains unchanged.

What else could it be?

Did you check the sway bar end links? I have had them come loose on mine before and make knocking sounds on bumps.

This is what I will check. I talked to airlift today and they told me to take it off and see if the noise disappeared. Also, tighten the top spindle nut. Ill take care of this today and see.

UPDATE: The noise remained the same after I torqued down the spindle nut at the struts. Ill have to jack up the car tomorrow for the end links. zuki_dan How do you get your wrench tool in there to torque it there. I also found today at a down hill stop where I turn the wheel left and right and I heard and feel a slight knock.

On my current BMR end links it takes a 9/16" wrench to hold the joint from turning and 3/4" nut to tighten the end link. I have been using a cordless electric impact to get the 3/4" nut tight.

Previously when I had the knocking noise I had tightened the nuts with a socket and 1/2 drive ratchet hand tight.

check my end link this weekend. Ill have to hand tight it bc I have no impact gun. The airlift end links only have a put on the inner.

Update: The problem was the end links on both sides were not at torque specs. I also use the spanner wrench and a pipe to be able to turn the lock collar another 90 degrees. I took the car for a test drive and no noise. zuki_dan
