When I dropped it off yesterday evening, I told them I have been smelling freon when cranking the car up after it sat out in the sun all day. I've had the white film on my glass too.
So today they call me and tell me they found a leaking Schrader valve under the hood. So I asked the guy how the hell have I been smelling it? Then he went on to tell me they did a dye check and found it. I asked him if these cars come from the factory with dye already in the freon and he said it does. I find that hard to believe.
Then he tried to tell me Freon was odorless. I called BS on him on that one too, and told him this was not my first rodeo and I have rebuilt the AC system on three other SN95 Mustangs I have had.
"Well, we can keep it a couple of days and test it after it sits out in the sun" OK, fine by me. I want it done right, and now because my warranty is about to expire. I know damned good and well this is the issue. Of course now we are having a "cold spell" with highs in the lower 80's, not the 98-100 days where it leaks out into the vents while parked in the sun all day.
