Pricey for the oil. Must contain unicorn jizz.

10 litres of Magnatec is £65 delivered off eBay.

Took mine to Guildford yesterday so one of their techs could tell me my gearbox was "normal". Hmmm.

Gonna have to listen to one or two others with some higher mileages on them to confirm. stevec yours is up around 16k now isn't it?

whats your gearbox doing, mine has an occasional 'zizz' in 2nd.

Shell Helix Ultra 5w20 is £29 for 5 litres at ECP.... is that ok for use?

Noisy whirring sound when off the clutch. Winds down after clutch is pushed down or disappears immediately when engaging gear. Noticeable when driving now too.

Positive it's normal but if they don't find a fault then I'm stuck with a £5/600 bill for gearbox removal/refit.

22k mate, just had second service.
Always had gbox/trust bearing type noise since new and just put it down to trust bearing/crap sound insulation./seals.

Welcome out in mine any time.

I think the guy on the phone got a bit confused - labour is .9 (hours?) I think, so that will be about £80, oil another £80-90 with stealer markup, filter should be just over a fiver - then VAT and other bits. Ludicrous charging £224 for a 10k service though given what's involved - but that's franchised dealers for you.

Have got 10L of Magnate 5W20 coming from Fleabay for princely sum of £58 (dang - should have remembered Opie!)

They've said there's no problem providing the oil as long as it's 'Ford oil' (which Magnatec is). Service bill as a result is about £100 - or at least, should be. Booked in for next Monday, will report back.

If you're used to BMW's, £224 for a service is not bad. Do people realise that Ford are a commercial company who have overheads to pay and need to make a profit? Sometimes I think we're a bit harsh with the dealers on this forum, arguing over the last £50 (or whatever) or if they take another hour longer than expected. I agree that some of the mistakes from the dealers are worth complaining about but some are just trivial - give them a chance!

Your joking right? Have you sat in a Ford service department lately? I was in one for 20 mins yesterday and I have never heard so much BS and lies delivered to customers.
Also waiting for a call back since 1pm on the status of my car. It's sad really as I KNOW I'm not getting a call back and will have to chase myself. The whole Ford customer service is appalling

To be honest ive zero complaints over the Ford service here. The dealer is brilliant and always calls when they say they will and seems to be staffed by people who enjoy what they do and have a decent amount of knowledge.

It just sounds like your dealer is shit - time to find a new one :)

I'm on my second dealer already! My next one is 50 mins from home (Guildford) could do without that journey but may have no choice

Except dealerships are commercial entities in themselves, not Ford owned.

I'm happy to pay a fair price for the work involved - but given an oil change takes all of about 15mins, with perhaps 10 more to get it on/off the ramps, I do begrudge having to pay a dealer double the time at about £90 per hour for the privilege, even if the additional time is used to poke a torch about and pull push on components that only have 1k miles on them :)

I'm not surprised, the amount your cars cost over there! :D
