Has anyone purchased these tires and if so - what's your honest opinion of the quality, overall performance and handling aspect?

I've read the reviews on Tire Rack and this tire gets extremely high reviews and ratings, with nearly a 4.75 star rating out of 5.

The tire has a nice tread pattern and is warranted up to 45k miles.

Rocking a set right now... have 7k miles so far, they are looking like they will last a long time (much longer than the Pirellis -- I got 9k on the rears, 16k on the fronts). They have been discontinued, however, they were priced similarly to the non A/S, but I wanted a better rain tire without the loss of performance. Overall, I'm very happy with them.

How is the road noise - better than the P-Zeros?

Does the sidewall protect the edge of the rims at all?

Discontinued? I didn't see any mention of that on Tire Rack's site... ugh, always the way, find something decent and it's being phased out...

I didn't hear they were being discontinued either. I was looking at a set a month ago and didn't see anything then. The only complaint I've read in my research was that there was excessive tire noise. Not so much when they are first installed, but once they get some wear/miles on them they got noisey.

Personally I chose to try some Firehawk Indys and will be getting a pair in the coming days.

I just replaced my Pirelli Pzero's with the BF G-Force Comp-2 A/S.

Truthfully, outside of a track, they are better in every category. Performance wise, I couldn't be more happy. The only A/S tires that are better are the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+, which are significantly more.

The only downside with the G-Force is that they have a bit of an aggressive sidewall. I would highly recommend these to anyone and will likely buy them again.

I've supplied a good number of members with these as a rubber choice, their solid. I like them and recommend them.

Paul,

Do you know if they are really being discontinued? On Tire Rack's site, right above the image of the tire, they have a small "New" moniker... ?!?

I think the poster was referring to the discontinued Pirellis. There is a newer design out now.

The BFGoodrich tires are excellent. Even thought they are one of the least expensive tires they are bang for the buck.

Low noise, great response. Haven't driven in the snow yet. I upsized the tires from 235/50/18 to 245/45/18.

I put them on my PP so that I could have a mostly year round tire on the car with a comparable level of dry grip, I run snow/ice tire and wheel when the need arises.
I've been very happy with the Comp 2 A/S, no noise that I can detect, excellent grip in the cold and wet, I've only had them on some very light dust of snow/slush and didn't have a problem getting around. I've only got a couple thousand on these for 2-3 months so far, I'm eager to see how they are in the heat of summer. I can slide the rear pretty easily but I think it's controlled and predictable.

The lip at the rim I think is better than on the Pirellis, and as noted the sidewall is blocky and beefy in appearance. Some don't like it.

I've heard things, but nothing is confirmed. its like the conti DW their on closeout because their making a new model. But I have checked and their is a good amount of BFG tires in stock so doesnt seem like their running out for the time being.

I've not experienced any additional noise, but can't rule that out. Like SWAT 79, I was looking for maximum performance with better tire mileage (and perhaps less risk of tread cracking), as this is my DD and NorCal sees some 30 degree days in Dec-Jan. I know when I tried to get the fronts, they were in very short supply having been discontinued (maybe in just the PP sizes)...

Just checked on the PP sizing, fronts are BO until end of Jan, rears are low but in stock.

that sidewall does look blocky and beefy. when i looked the tire up on:

it didn't look the same...is this an upgrade?

Thanks for those who posted up links and pics!

The sidewall profile does not bother me, if anything, it just appears to be more aggressive looking, rather than being like smooth and flat like other performance tires.

I've researched this tire on multiple retial tire sites (both local and nationwide) and via reading other automotive forums where folks are using the tire and nearly all reviews or responses are very good and in high regard with reference to tread wear, quality and overall performance.

Looks like this may be my replacement tire as well when that time comes.

Get the BFG summer tires COMP-2. They use those on track training cars.

The BFG A/S tires look like off-road tires because of the stupid sidewall design some idiot came up with. Great tire though otherwise. I'd have them on my 20" wheels if it wasn't for that sidewall. Just not acceptable to me.
