A few months back I installed the Scott Drake Heat Extractors on my Mustang. They look fantastic but unfortunately after just 2.5 months they started to exhibit corrosion.

I purchased the heat extractors through CJ Pony Parts and they are replacing them free of charge. Has anyone else experienced any issues?

Scott Drake

After my experiences with Scott Drake products with my '66 restoration, I won't have any of his hit or miss products on my '15.
I think I threw away as much as I used. Some Drake items are a homerun, and some should not be allowed on the market.

D*mn, I was looking into these and cutting out some area under my hood for more heat extraction.

I'm wondering if the problem is occurring due to possibly incompatibility of the metals being used in the combination of the part?

I agree. It promotes corrosion.

Scott Drake parts are all Chinese produced. I've never had anything fit well. I won't ever purchase anything from them, much like I won't purchase Granatelli or AJE parts any longer.

Well, I'm not ready to give up yet. I will clear coat the new ones.

Does anyone recommend a good off the shelf paint? Preferably matte finish.

Use a high temp clear ..or better yet if you want them gloss ..use epoxy enamel black paint it's what they use for appliances it's almost like powder coat works really good
