Fords powershift AT gearbox is another world in compare to the AT gearbox on the 'Stang, really smooth, no jolts in the gears, that's what I call a GOOD gearbox... :rant:

I keep reading people dissing the AT on the Mustang... but I have had no issues on mine, it seems to do what it's supposed to when it is supposed and no jolts or weirdness at all...?!

Why?

In 2003 I went to the Schwabengarage GmbH in Vaihingen Germany because of a check engine light. They hooked it up to the machine and it said faulty sensor. I asked which one and Achilles said the MAF sensor. He scheduled me an appointment to have it replaced under warranty. On the day of my appointment I came in with a backpack full of snacks, water and magazines. It's a sensor right, I figured a one hour job but came prepared. I didn't pay much attention at the time but he said I had a premium warranty and ask me if I knew what it meant (I did not know at the time what it meant). I'm in the waiting area when Achilles comes over and asks what am I doing and I replied, waiting. He said it could take hours. I said it's a sensor but he said that he doesn't know when the car will actually go in to have the sensor replaced. By chance I caught a guy headed to base. So I'm at the food court on base finishing brunch when my phone rings, it's Achilles the Mustang is done and I can pick it up. Sweet now I have to figure out how to get back over to the garage. By chance there is a guy from work that is going there. I get there and Achilles hands me the keys and says that the car has a lot of power, I smile and say yeah it does. When I get in the Stang I notice that the seatbelts are all of their loops, okay maybe they cleaned the car. I turn the key on and check the mileage (something my father taught me). 5 miles, it had been driven 5 miles for a sensor? Someone cleared the mileage counter, but I wrote the mileage down. I could see scuff marks in the back floorboard area. Now it hits me, they went for a little joy ride in my Mustang. I got out and went inside and confronted Achilles about putting 5 miles on the car and he denied it. I said come here and I'll prove it, he then said ok they had to test drive it. For a sensor, you don't need to drive it around for 5 miles to test it. He then said well it's been chip tuned and chip tuning in Germany is illegal. I told him to never go to the Frankfurt Auto Show because you'll gouge your eyes out and left. Never returning.
I tried shortening it the best I could.

Seems you are lucky. I have on mine a lot of jolts and gearbox is not really smooth. You can feel every gear change in every mode on the car !

I hoped that the update solve this points, but no update for my car ...

*Oh I should add that if you own a US spec Ford you are to use them for warranty work, if you are in the Stuttgart area.

My car is back from the Dealer after the last climatisation problem and I have now following informations :

- Repair my climatisation
They filled the system with new gas and it works now like the first day :cheers:

- Check the cooled seats issue
They had no time to check this point, need to come back another time for that :(

- Update the gearbox
Mechanical guys said no update for my gear box available on their system, I explained that a lot of fellows got this update done, but nothing for me :rant:

- Update the Sync 2 system to 3.8
Well, no update done to my car, need to do it myself !!

John, your dealer seems crap! There is an update to the AT. I have had it. Makes wonders to the way it behaves, change gears, performance, et al. Simply transform the car. If no luck, get up to Cologne and i tell you where to go!

What are the MAS rules on getting service? Can we take it to any Ford Dealer in Germany we want or are we stuck with what ever dealer MAS sends us too?

I'm sure there is a dealer by you. When you picked up the car they should have told you where to go. Other Ford garages won't touch it (outside of the designated ones). I tried to go to the Schabengarage in downtown Stuttgart but they said they don't service US spec cars. When you take a vehicle in for service they put that information in the Ford database. Follow the Ford recommended service schedule (if you want).
MAS doesn't care what you do with the car until you exceed the factory warranty and use their extended warranty. They are a business and they don't like to loose money. I know from experience.
I should probably go up in your direction for services.

I've bought a few vehicle from MAS and I have learned that the extended warranty is BS and the undercarriage protection (Ziebart) is BS. It's just ways for them to get more money out of you.

Ah Stefano, I see in the database that you have Not brought your vehicle in for service Every year for the past 5 years so we will Not cover the repairs.

For this reason, I had only the first service at the ford dealer just to (barely) keep the two-year legal warranty, but the next service, that will be after the two year landmark, I'll do at a friend garage and let him check my car, change the oil and so on.
With the money saved I could pay for broken parts that could be covered by the extended warranty (IF they would honor it...)

They did get me on the undercarriage protection (Ziebart), but only because I was shipping it overseas, I thought it might protect it some during shipping.

You don't get the 3 years bumper-to-bumper and 5 years powertrain warranties?
