Anybody on here fitted a Magnaflow Street CatBack to their GT? I'd like a little more volume and a little deeper but no rasp and I think this will fit the bill. But, it's a vert so I don't want to go nuts or make a mistake.

We had a chap put one on his ecoboost Verte (Think it was Greg_C). Haven't heard of anyone putting one on a V8, but then again, every V8 got an exhaust within a week of ownership so need to test my memory what everyone got!

I am curious about the fact that no one wants "rasp" sound in their exhaust.

What is the meaning of "rasp"?

Excuse my english...

I fitted MF Street cat back pretty immediately after delivery (came over on the same boat as Manders Mustang). Got to say it really lives up to expectations. A very deep, old fashion V8 sound at idle with some light (but very enjoyable) raspiness above 4000rpm. The "sound print" of MF fits the car perfectly in my case and causes a lot of attention everywhere I go.
Build quality is tops and size of the end pipes very impressive....
Only downside in my case is the presence of the exhaust note in 6th gear around 1800-2000rpm. Not a drown but you can hear it on the highway.
Hope this helps - don't think you can go wrong with the MF Street

In my case, I defined the "rasp" as a harsh aggressive sound that I personally found unpleasant to the ear...it's not about volume, but more about tone...:)
It's hard to describe, but these 2 videos go some way to explain, what I think rasp is..

PS your English is just fine:thumbsup:

This MBRP system is very raspy..

Whereas this solo performance system seems much less so

Very happy with my Magnaflow Street cat back. I have a convertible but is an Ecoboost but looks so much better than the pathetic tail pipes we get on the Ecoboost & sounds good. Got my wife to do a "drive by" in second gear for me yesterday so I could hear what it sounds like- not too loud but a BIG improvement over stock- deeper & goes well with the AIRRAID CAI- just right for the convertible. Also great service from Guy @ Nemesis I am sure it will be ideal for your V8 convertible.

Thank you; although I'm a little concerned about the possible drone in a vert. I could always remove the sound tube to balance it out a bit. Any chance of a clip?

I have been searching and researching for months already. I wanted no drone, deeper with no rasp. You should check out the Solo Mach XV or Solo Thunder. They seem to get rave reviews around both elements.

Hi slowhand99

For a GT Convertible I would recommend a Street or Touring Exhaust System for your GT Mustang.

We have the Magnaflow Street System in stock. This is our most popular exhaust system as it provides a great balance with really hearing the V8 engine and leveling off when cruising.

We will also have Borla S-Type Systems in to us in the next week or so. These are a 2.5" system so there should be little to no clearance issues to the convertible bracing.

If you found to Borla to be too loud at any point or track day noise limits they offer a touring center resonator to bring the noise down.

Feel free to drop me a message or give us a call and I will be happy to help with any questions you may have.

Cheers

Guy

And on an Ecoboost, the comparison between rasp & no rasp would be ANY Ecoboost exhaust (except Magnaflow) v's Magnaflow :)

I went for the Magnaflow Competition Catback supplied by Guy (top bloke!) and it's LOUD. First 3 weeks were bonkers loud, but now it's settled down it's the perfect tone for me. Lots of rasp when you fire it to the red line but that combined with the deep tone makes it sound perfect. I wouldn't want it for a vert, definitely go street.

Slowhand, there will be no drone with our street catback. The more conservative volume level has made it a popular choice for the convertible owners, and is not overbearing to drive with when the top is down. If we can answer any other questions, please let us know!
