Here's a question for you all... Do you think that putting a cover on your Mustang when it's on the drive would reduce the risk of it being stolen?

Errm no? If they want it, they gonna take it. Or maybe it's just my thinking. Sorry, i come from a place where you're car wasn't even safe behind electric fences and automatic gates.

I will be using a cover for when it's not able to go in the garage due to other projects, mainly to protect it from the elements, I don't think for a minute it would make a car thief think 'oh maybe not this one it's got one of those pesky covers'.

I'd nick the cover, I got my Mustang ! ;) lol
Not from this car, but I had a nice cover disappear quickly :(

Never thought about buying one again.

I want to get a cover, but to protect from the dirt and bird poo that I battle with as I don't have a garage. Not sure it will protect from theft and the other concern is do they eventually damage the cars paint.

You will have to clean it every time you put the cover on. Draggin a car cover over dirty paint will scratch it.

I don't use it during the week so my plan was to wash it on a Sunday before putting the cover on for the week.
My car gets absolutely rotten, every evening I have to remove bird shit because where I park off road is right under a power line.I thought about building a retractable cover on my wall but going to get a decent cover instead.

Thanks all - yes I think the best idea all round seems to be to spend the money on mods instead :-). If someone's gonna steal it, they're gonna steal it I guess. My wife said a couple of dodgy looking guys in a white van pulled up the drive and were just staring at the mustang yesterday - which is what got me thinking. Plus some people in their late teens taking videos of it on my drive the other day although I don't think that one is anything to worry about. Ho hum.

Anyone got any other ideas? Apart from garage of course...

If it's going in a drive you could consider a driveway ram post? Easy to take in and out once installed and it'd take some serious grinder action to get through one.

They were probably just admiring your car. I can look dodgy in my white van too lol. I'm a petrolhead and will perv on someone's car on their drive haha

It's what insurance is for at the end of the day. Will suck hard if it was to get stolen but at least you know your covered

As people have said if a thief wants something there really is nothing much you can do, I think I'm fairly safe though as there is a lambo parked up nearby hopefully they will got for that first

Those cocoons look very good although I guess they could be cut through?

Never thought of a ram post - they actually might be the best thing all round... Just a question of whether it's worth ÂŁ350 or not... Hmm...

You're right about that's what insurance is for but it'd be such a bummer to lose it given the work that's been put into it - would have to start again from scratch...
