So I'm doing my exhaust tonight, and the insane fear of putting thejack in the wrong place, and axle-stands in the wrong place is ever-looming.

Just wondering if anyone can help by circling below where are good places to JACK the car from (With a jack obviously)

and where are the places I should be placing my axle stands, I have 8 all rated at 1.5T each, however don't think i'll need more than 4 (2 each side)

Help greatly appreciated :)

(P.s, yes I have all the other stuff and know how to use them, I just don't want 2tonnes of metal at risk of falling on ones face!!!!)

Mate I'm not being funny I seriously wouldn't go under a car if you don't know what your doing. Let someone else deal with it

I'm with you on this........ I have the Steeda jacking rails, and 2 trolley jacks, so I can jack one side a bit, put the stands under, then go to the other side and repeat until I'm at the height I need....;)

BUT. Without the rails and the 2 jacks, I'm struggling to see where you can jack, and then put a stand......because the Jack is most likely in the same spot that the stand needs to be (IYSWIM)

Self confessed Mechanically stupid folk should know their limits:paddle::crazy:

Use the Red circled points on this picture for the Axle stands, Blue for Jacking. But keep a trolly jack under skirt as a backup too. Don't forget to chock the front wheels!

It's nothing to do with 'Not knowing what to do' the exhaust is a bunch of bolts, It's a piece of p1ss. Jacking a car is no issue, I've done it before, what I was asking for is what SSC gave me which is the SAFE jacking points and the SAFE Points for the axle-stands to be sat when doing the exhaust.

Yes my mechanic friend is doing it, he's said that chances are the Axle-stand points are indicated by the arrows on the underside on the skirts, however, I wanted to CHECK before going under the car, and see what others have done etc.

As Enoch has said, without the rails it's a big of a pain, but I'm still going to do it without them

(Blocking wheels is no issue, I've actually got blocks for that, I've jacked a car up and done Breaks and such before, I've just never jacked up 1) a car this size. 2) a car this heavy. 3) this car. 4) a car this worth)

And if it helps the haters, if it falls on my head, I die, you get no more stupid comments, last things I want are sarcarstic comments when I'm trying to learn, some of us haven't spent years under cars and are aiming to learn, so sarcy comments can tootle the eff off because I'm asking for help - not sh1t talk.

When I look at the picture where the jacks should go (the circles drawn in later pic) they do look to be a bit close together and central for my liking. I do agree if its safe then hell do it however the jacking rails seem a good idea. Do you both jack up from these rails and then place the jack stands under the same rails, or do you go where the blue circles are? I prefer to use jacks with the widest possible distance.

I'm looking at that picture and saying Jack from blue, axle stand on red (there's two gaps and two arrows for them). As long as I Jack say the left side, place the axle stands, then the right side, place axle stands, I should be good.

Yes yes, there's going to be pictures, just to prove you all wrong that I can/could/will do it :) :paddle::paddle:

I jack in the middle of the rail, and place a stand at either end...:)

As for you young Manders, and your little tizzy:lol:......the last thing anyone want to see is a young fella getting hurt or worse...

25 years as a senior H&S bod.......means I've seen a lot of stuff I wish I hadn't :(

Just don't appreciate sarcy comments when all I was asking for was a simple answer to make my life easier as I know people on here have done the exhaust on axle-stands etc, so wanted to make ascertain I was doing it correctly.

I'm not the most mechanically astute guy in the world, i'll openly admit that. But I'm wanting to learn. I don't plan on doing anything insanely hard, exhaust looks like a piece of cake to do (Although probably just jinxed it) and it's something I want to do.

Which is why my Mechanic mate's going to be there with me when doing it (I'm one of them learn by doing guys... what's the term, kinaesthetic is it?)

AS for Breaks/Brakes (blame auto correct and my bad spelling!)

Sanders you dont need jacking rails - just use a bit of hard wood with a slot cut into it. Come to it - you can lift the car up on the seems they are not going to bend buckle or anything..

for what its worth - the standard exhaust is really heavy - and aligning the back boxes a pain.... if you can get access to a ramp I would use a ramp.

Ahh, so its your fault I have to fill in about 40 pages of paper work to send an employee up a ladder....oh know sorry, I mean a podium! We cant use ladders anymore.

I think Manders is getting some undeserved stick here. He is only asking ahead of his mechanic mate doing it. I am sure all will be fine but I will say.

If in doubt, DO NOT GO UNDER! There is no such thing as that will do!
