Sync 3 software update for 2016s?

I was reading in early January that an update to sync 3 was coming to 2016 models. This update would have android auto and car play functionality and was dId to roll out later in the year.

Has anyone found or know of an update to fords plans for rolling out an update?

It is looking like end of summer.. And car play is going to require a new USB hub.. Ford has not said the hub for certain.. But that's what it is looking like ..

What are you wanting to do? Car Play? The only way is for you to actually upgrade with new hardware to Sync 3. I do offer that upgrade.

Sync 3 really needs an update, it's fine as a radio and nav, but damn does it suck with even regularly reading apps. I have Pandora, Spotify, Slacker, Sirius XM along with a few more apps installed, and most of the time it only reads Spotify or doesn't read that any apps are there at all.

It's really annoying.

I thought I was the only one.
I looked at all their compatible apps with Android and installed them so I can have the full features and play around and it only recognizes Pandora for me

I think I get Spotify the most because i use it the most.

Apps on the radio only show for me when that particular app is open (foreground) on my phone.

yeah, it's not supposed to work that way at all. it should read what's installed.

Just bought a 2017 Escape Titanium that already has the Carplay Sync 3 update pre-installed, so the wait shouldn't be much longer. It had a May build date.
