Dual Valve Catch Can Questions

Hello everyone!

New 2016 ecoboost owner here and I'm looking to get a few clarifying answers from you all on the dual valve catch can.

I'm about to pick one up for my car. I haven't done any mods do it and don't really plan to for a while, but I wanted to get a catch can on it ASAP to keep that crud out of my engine.

I have two quick questions.
My car doesn't smoke or anything like that, so do I really need to go to the trouble of gutting my PVC or will the can work just fine with it stock?

Secondly, do I need to upgrade to the Boomba check valve like is recommended, or am I fine with the stock one on my stock car? I do plan on putting the hose clamps on it.

If your car isn't smoking, then don't mess with the PCV. Just add the DVCC and you'll be fine. If your car is fairly new, it should have the updated PCV anyways (which fixed the smoking).

Upgrading to the Boomba valve is recommended if you're going to be seeing higher boost pressures. I'd upgrade anyways just for peace of mind, but if you're indeed staying stock, then I'd imagine it'd be sufficient.

I'd also install the hose clamps. Again, on stock levels, it might not be necessary but it's cheap and involves very little time to add an extra measure of safety.

I have a 16 EBM premium and I have the mishimoto basic catch can and my PCV is in tact on my MAP turbo setup and I do not have any smoke issues, so I think I may have a revised PCV in mine since the build date was 1.16. No check valves. I do have the UPR dvcc just not installed I may not install it and I already have it for sale since I am not getting the smoke.

Adam said the same thing on stock you are good without the boomba valve, larger turbo you should get it.

I have an early build car (08/2014) and I never had a smoking issue so i didn't gut my pcv. It took me longer to fill my dvcc, about 5k miles and the bottom quarter of the tank was full

The catch can isn't just for the smoking issue that some people see, it's designed to keep oil, fuel, and moisture out of the turbo and manifold. With our check valve which does work on stock or higher boost applications, it will seal and work better then your stock PCV. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us.

I got my can hooked up the other day ago. I just had a couple more question. I noticed a few changes and since this is my first ever turbo car just thought I'd double check them.

I've noticed that when I let off the gas and coast down my boost gauge doesn't drop to 20hg anymore it kind of hovers around 19 to 19.4. I assume this is because of the new vacuum flow through the can?
There also seems to be a new power surge when I drive the car spiritedly. I'll hit around 19 psi or so. Then it hits a small soft spot for a split second and jumps to 21psi and tosses me back in my seat again. I suppose that's the whole crank case WOT throttle feature of the can?

Just an FYI. I have a 2016 with the updated PCV and it smoked with a Catless downpipe. Some people have the issue some don't. But I agree with you, I didn't mess with my PCV until I had the problem, but gutting it with a new check valve did the trick.

I'm catless as well, my pcv is gutted but I was going to buy the new one from ford but I guess that would be a waste of money then ?
