Absolutely brilliant. I hope you are going to show your car in the summer. Claying the inside of your wheels has to worth some kind of prize.

Maybe a stupid question, but presumably this process can be done panel by panel over a couple of weeks?
Thanks :) I did a few shows in my S197, but I'd rather drive the S550 than polish it ;) That said, the purpose of this exercise was primarily to protect the paint and make future cleaning much easier.

Re. your question, you couldn't really do this process panel by panel over the course of several weeks as the car would have to be cleaned each time (unless you didn't use it in between of course). You could certainly do a 'normal' polish and wax that way, but these sealants chemically bond to the paint using nanotech or somesuch. That means taking into consideration curing times between the coatings.

There are other products that can give you more flexibility in this regard, but the best bet with this Gtechniq stuff was to do it in one hit. Thankfully the easter bank holiday weekend afforded me the time :)

@stiggy - Fantastic job and loved reading through this! I thought i spent loads of hours prepping mine :)

One question, where did you get your wheel brushes from? Mine seem a little harsh and not sure long term if they will start hazing the black alloys, so need something softer to slide through the spokes / reach the inner rims.
Got the brushes from a seller on eBay.They're not cheap (about £40!) but quality costs. They do a great job and let you get right inside the wheel (I don't usually remove wheels for general washing ;) ).

The smallest one fits between the brembo caliper and the wheel rim too which is useful.

Search for 'Wheel Woolies' 3 piece cleaning kit

American cars are undersealed as an option bought at the dealers so ours arrive over with no sealing done. This is done at the yard in Zeebrugge.
Had we had the option - I'd have opted not to have it done!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading your detail process.

Thank you for taking the time to post all the photos and descriptions!

I also carried out a paint correction on my DIB GT with my Griots Orbital and Adams Polish products. Nothing beats DIB in my opinion, such a rewarding colour to polish!
Thanks Tim - it must look even more amazing under a SoCal sun.

It's been raining here pretty much constantly since I finished the work!

I have some more work to do to the interior to protect it, but waiting on more Gtechniq product before I can start. I'm also going to seal the wheels with a different product (Gtechniq C5). Bit of a pain as I have to strip the wax that I've only just put on, but it will save work in the long run.

DIB & Ruby are definitely the 2 best colours when polished & under the sunshine. They really pop, DIB also looks really good under cool white LED lights. Had mine parked in an underground car park lit with LED after the Gtechniq work, looked exceptional.

I cheated and paid for my work, get a 7 year guarantee though [emoji1303]

7 years - sounds like you had Crystal Serum then, perhaps with Exo on top? Dare I ask how much as that stuff is expensive! Note I do it as a hobby, so just curious re the cost, but I'd imagine between £500 and £700 given materials and labour?

Yes, crystal serum topped with exo. Wheels done with C5 wheel armour & Windows with G1. Cost £530.

Need to get my bumper redone after the bash, that's £60

£530 for that was very good value. Though it does depend on the amount of correction (if any) required. I saw the £60 for the bumper which I thought was a bit steep - but now I know what they used, I can see why :)
