It appears many people are upset thePill delivers with accuracy...

Let's see how accurate thePill gets this year.

The Camaro SS is no better than the 1LE. Way too much kicking and screaming about it. None of anyone's feelings on the matter are going to change that.

The fact that Chevy literally had to remove structure, equipment and relocate all the 1SS standard equipment to the 2SS just to avoid the insults is hilarious.

The MSRP on the 2SS is outstanding. How much of the 3770lbs on the 2SS was going to end up on the 1SS anyway?

So scared of weighing 3800lbs they literally removed worthy rotors and tire  and the cost is still thousands above the GT.

We will see how light the 1LE and ZL1 are. They could leave all the sub-frame connectors off of you think about it. Nobody would notice...

What a mess... and it started when they chose the Alpha platform. It's been compromises ever since.

It should be just on par with the 1le. That's where it was benchmarked. It's in the right class. Anyone who thinks otherwise is asking for too much.

You keep thinking its compromises but I see it doing just fine with the platform. Regardless if people seem to think it's over priced

The general public hasn't got to see or feel the 2016 in the wild. The 2010-2015 SS was always deemed a great handling car but, we have grown to know better.

It's true, the '16 SS is better than the '10-'15. However, it's right with the 1LE and missing some valuable equipment that made a 1LE good. In other words, its accomplishments, so far, is a display of its Power to Weight ratio improvement. The previous SS was really heavy and performed rather crappy all around. Remember, solid axle Mustang's were (and still very much are) a threat to everything in FS and the SCCA.

I'm not really sure how much better a GTPP would be with less fuel and no Premium. That's not really the question... most likely faster and more consistent in some way.

This shows me that the Premium that a good many chose to buy is actually just as fast than the deadliest Camaro in the SCCA and class. It's not faster so, it won't be booted from FS...

Bang for the buck? the $35,700 GTPP... can't be beat and probably never will. I hear that almost 1/2 the field are Mustangs...

This is what the conversation turns into when thePill rest his case and the SCCA concurs with test data.

This is why popular media is bad. It allows for an unsupervised test bed where there are no standards for inspection or moral conduct. Many of the 5th Gen's were hell-raisers in the magazines... then were found they couldn't defend themselves in many classes. Not only that, they were very uncomfortable to pilot in those conditions.

So far, I seen some higher expectations as far as 2016 SS classing. The SCCA didnt observe the advantage the media portrayed in most articles.

I don't even know why Chevy makes the Camaro "track" focused anyway. There isn't a DAMN soul discussing the topic beyond grab-ass.

The last time I seen a video of two grab-asser's, grab-assen, one grab-asser lost his ass...

This is why I don't care much for SCCA cone events.

If you were to actually look at the streets of willow website. Same track. The Camaro SS ran a full second faster than the Mustang GT.

Not only that. But Randy Pobst ran he lap time in the GT. Someone else ran it in the Camaro.

Now the new Camaro is still about -:--.50 off of the 1le which still holds top 10.

With that being said, I believe an actual road course shows the capabilities of both cars.

If it wasn't for the SCCA, you might as well just take racing, lap times and competition out of comparisons all together.

It's not just "the cones"... the 1LE was DESTROYED in SCCA T2 and that is road course competition. The S197 was all over the 1LE in all 3 seasons.

Magazine results are fun but, as we have seen here, they can mislead people. The drag strip and AutoX are where a large majority of races happen. Young people love it...

Besides, the test wasn't conducted to make the M3 and 1LE look bad. It was done to confirm correct class of placement.

If the Camaro can't manage to put seconds on a Mustang, everyone gets uncomfortable.

thePill is gonna say this one last time. The 1LE or 2016 SS isn't any faster than what's in the class already. thePill said this all last year but it was considered a lie.

Now this could be strictly due to the power difference. What is funny is that even with a new chassis setup on the GT it couldn't beat the old GT500 time.

Now I'm still curious to see how the two perform against each other in the cone courses. While both are in the powerband shuffling through cones it will probably be close.

Probably just not enough there to separate them.

This isn't magazine tests. These are actual lap times from multiple different drivers.

You can say what you want about auto cross being the fun cheap alternative all you want. But the fact remains that these cars are going to depend heavily on the track they are on at the time.

You better hope that mustang is on a curvy course to stand a chance.

If you take that mustang and Camaro to the track I'm part of that mustang will get swallowed. With the second longest straight in America it will be to far behind to catch a break in the corners. There isn't much for the Camaro to lose in those spots.

You will probably see the same this year depending on the tracks you go to.

The s197 which were cheap pieces to get into. But not the new S550. I expect them to see action this year together. We will see.
