I'm having XPEL installed on my hood, bumper and fenders soon. My installer told me he would not be going over the stripes but just up to the edge of the stripe. Has anyone had it installed in this fashion?

there are two patterns, with stripes and without. personally, i'd have him wrap the stripes , as it sounds like they nick/ding easily and are pretty damn expensive to replace.

I didnt have this problem.. stripe delete ftw.

Definitely over the stripes. The vinyl stripes are super brittle and provide little to no protection to the paint under them.

Sent using the protocol module of my R2 unit.

My '13 Boss I didn't go over the stripes and I regret it. I had to replace the stripes twice because of this. I say go over the stripes.

You don’t want to know
The stripes are just as susceptible as paint to rocks, sand, scratches and all the stuff birds drop. I can't understand the recommendation to not cover them.

If you have stripes on your car, that's even more of a reason to get your car covered in Xpel.

i had xpel put on yesterday and they did it over the stripes. came out great! there is a tiny raised edge at the stripe since the stripe is put on over the paint and was to be expected and he told me as well before, but it came out great i think.

I did Suntek and went over the stripes. Those stripes just scuff way too easy. Also I think the stripes are brighter than before the wrap.

Here are a few shots closeup to full hood shot.

Acksman, Did you have someone in the Dallas area do your's? If so, who, and would you recommend them (or not)?

I had a guy in Argyle do it. He has a small two bay shop and this is all he does with Tint. He is ex-military and picky as hell. Really did a great job at a good price I thought. Gave me my choice of Xpel, Suntek and 3M if I wanted it. For my color he recommended the Suntek and I am glad he did as I was leaning towards the Xpel. He showed me the differences on my car.

planning to wrap my Black GT350R when the car arrives and debating on XPEL or Suntek. Whats the major differences from both products? Which one provide the best gloss ?

Black you should be ok with either. Xpel is a bit thicker than the Suntek. The Suntek had a bit more gloss on my race red than the Xpel. Xpel has 10yr and Suntek has 5yr Warranty, but that did not make much difference in my decision.

Xpel , as was said , is a bit thicker. on lighter paint colors, you can see the seams and it gives more of an orange peel effect.

On black cars, especially if you are doing some sort of nanotech coating on top, it looks wonderful and you can't tell it is on there until you are right on it.

For you clear bra experts, which brand would be better for DIB? Suntek or XPel?
