Because a superior chassis, that is lighter, with a more powerful engine is going to be slower. Got it.
Actually, I think the S550 is a 735lbs structure while the Camaro is slightly more. The Front suspension and IRS are nearly identical except for a few features.

Right now, nobody has a 2016 registered that I know of. Nobody in Regionals yet but there could be someone.

We had a 2016 SS here, I put pictures on FB. The owner isn't convinced he wants to take it to FS.

He's quick at Pitt but not anything that will shake up the history books. He needs to scratch it and stop being a girl.

It is hands down the ugliest Sports Coupe on the road today. It's so corny and GTO-ish.

It won't last long.

That's ok. Your subjectiveness has nothing to do with its performance. I'm willing to bet once one does get in there with a halfway decent driver you won't be talking crap anymore.

And once the new 1le gets classed above FS you won't have anything left to talk about.

I don't want to hear anything come out of your mouth about weight. Ever. Evuuuuurrrrrrrrr.

Those features include no wheel hop and better traction management. Which is why the Camaro runs much more consistent times that a GT in even the hands of a green pea

Except the SCCA already conducted a test that classed the 2016 SS. It was classed in FS because it has no real advantage over any vehicle currently in FS.
I'm not sure why that's so disturbing...

The 1LE was a promised never really delivered and the SCCA is already on top on the 2016 SS. It is 2015 GTPP Premium competitive, therefore, it was placed in the 2015 GT's class.

It might do well, the 1LE had success there after sucking worldwide. FS is a toss up because the vehicles that run the top are so close.

Of course, if you subscribe to a magazine, these professional results may be hard to swallow.

I was talking about the weight for the car as a whole, albeit with terrible wording. My bad on that.

Yeah professionals.....how many are professional drivers? How many are professional drivers that test cars for magazines. Yes I know that most are journalists, but there are a fair few that drive for a living, and I have yet to see any that prefer the S550 GTPP to the Alpha SS. Go ahead and show me one and I will be quiet.

Why not? Because Chevy gutted the SS and decontented to save weight and money?

It was their decision and it will ultimately separate the Mustang from themselves. If the ATS's convertible was approved, I'm sure the integrated design would have been a go. But they didn't get that nor could they afford it after the aluminum. It's a sad affair when 640hp sits on top of a 4 cylinder platform with over 20 sub-frame connectors

It's an old school method that they shouldn't have upcharged the customer for. They removed content and structure and charged you for it :( just so they could match the GT's weight.

Now they can't touch a GT350 and I doubt you get a 1LE cheap. The SS needs about 100lbs of standard equipment and bracing the Mustang has at 3740lbs. thePill never thought they would gut the car of that valuable support since the Corvette benefitted so much. But it is a barrowed chassis after all... that's already about 10 years out of date.

That track has got to increase as do the brakes and tire minimum. Some reinforcement might be added later...

It doesn't really matter. It's expensive as hell, just as heavy and doesn't really perform as great as advertised. They aren't selling well either... the GT in FS is the least of their worries.

It's not disturbing. And I'm not saying it has much of an advantage. What I am saying is that if it is any way faster than the GT consistently then it's a win.

Yep... that is how racing works.

The 1LE failed this simple task with the S197 GT, Boss 302 and GTPP. None of those vehicles should be dominating that class while 1LE's were active regionally.

It's fine, it's a Premium. They race too and maybe even more of them.

Lol the Camaro just can't win for you right now. Even though it's continuously proved you wrong :) It's ok.

Why not?
"Right where the ATS-V is at, 3820lbs...

The ATS-V has 20lbs in engine, 15lbs in brake and 35lbs in stereo... that's it...

The SS's 245/275/20's are probably 40lbs heavier than the V's and the radiators are probably 15lbs more... the BIW is about 40lbs heavier...

The 2SS has the ATS-V's stereo, minus a speaker I think so, that 35lbs is actually in your car. MRC is a wash and NPP is suppose to be 9lbs lighter... but not lighter than the ATS-V's.

So, as you can see, the Camaro could end up being heavier... unless you can point to an area that the ATS-V makes that back up... That is 80-90lbs missing that can't be accounted for. 110-130lbs when talking 1SS.

I am all ears, I need to see where exactly the 125lbs came from...

If you believe a 3670lbs 1SS, you need to tell me how it got there. Because that is a lot of weight to just vanish ya' know."

"Do you still think a Camaro SS is 130lbs lighter than an ATS-V? you poor man, washed as all can be..."

"Have you ever truly considered what you are asking Chevy to do? The Camaro is larger in every direction and has heavier equipment with the exception of front brakes and stereo. The Camaro wheels and coolers eat that back up. Maybe IF the ATS-V was really 3700lbs then I could see a Camaro finding enough for a 15lbs difference... but 110-140lbs now????"

"If you honestly believe the 2016 Camaro is 110-130lbs lighter than the ATS-V, God bless ya'."

"I put numbers up, that is my bet...

My numbers eventually come to be known as fact...

...that is the only thing I want to win..."

"I said the 1SS would be 3780-3820lbs. It will probably end up at 3803lbs (as I was led to believe)."

"I have serious doubts you are confident in GM. You are as likely to get a 3700lbs SS as you are a 3700lbs ATS-V... and remember, Chevy is using actual preproduction cars in Head 2 Heads... yippie!!! Who knows what's turned up in these examples."

"GM never told you any of that did they... and a critical piece of the puzzle.

Maybe, MAYBE the 1SS can get a 20lbs advantage over the ATS-V's 3809lbs..."

This is why you cannot ever ever ever talk about weight. And this, I am sure, the reason you have been gone for the last few months. You were wrong. Wrong....wrong wrong lol.

Is the point of this thread the 16' Camaro SS wasn't put into a different class comparing the Mustang Gt?
What is the time separation moving to a faster class in such a short course?
Sorry for the Inexperienced post but I am a SCCA beginner.

Oh man... we are back to the Camaro weight again. Amazing...

1LE was faster in an autocross in this test. That is incredible if you ask me. It is heavy as hell. It should sucks ass in tight turns and does suck in my experience anytime there is a slow turn on track.

Like I said before... a Miata will beat all 3 of these cars on the right autocross course. And guess what? It will be slow as shit on the big boy track once you get above 80. This test means nothing when it comes to the real track. And the funny part is that the Mustang still lost, yet somehow there is an argument here. Classic

You missed his point. His point was that the much more track oriented cars were barely faster than the mustang. Now whether or not you think the PP is track focused or not is the main issue. They say that the GT can probably match the other two cars with more seat time. So is this a win for the mustang? Maybe. It's what we all already knew. The 1LE and now the 6th gen camaro are way more performance oriented from the factory than the mustang is, but it still performs pretty decently regardless.

Edit: I'm not defending the weight stuff. It is a little out there lol. We all are well aware of how they saved weight on the camaro coupe.
