Don't listen to the people whining about the torque on the GT350.
I agree, its really not an issue. Not to mention it gets through the rev range so fast its really insignificant

I know folks like to talk about the LSx LTx motors low end torque, but you also have to look at the "low end" torque relative to the total rev range. Sure they are nice down low, but they run out of steam just a few thousand RPM later. As for the GT350, it takes a fraction of a second to get to 2-3k,but then you still have 5-6k rpm to chew through. It just might take a little extra effort to make sure you are in the right gear for what you want the car to do

6th gear is infact useless for all but straight or downhill constant speed. Any incline or passing I am downshifting to 4th or 5th

a GT350 would be a nice addition to any such garage

I wish I was in a position to have multiple vehicles...it might help me with my affliction :headbonk:

So, I moved the car on today. Traded it in for what I paid for it, and managed to pick up a Porsche GT4 for sticker price :)

Got 7 months and 6k miles of free motoring out of the GT350 (minus the horrific fuel economy ;))

I think I'll miss the engine a little, but I didn't find myself looking back while driving off in the GT4.

Overall, I've been rather impressed by the GT350, and I think I shall be keeping it for a long time to come.
Some of you guys have a different idea of a long time than I do, apparently. :D

Honestly, I'm shocked at seeing how many people have gotten gt350s, and moved on in less than a year. Please give your honest opinion: is the porsche just that good, or did you find the gt350 lacking something? If so, what? Thanks for the update!

Wow, you said you were going to keep it "a long time to come". It only lasted 7 months?

I am guessing the size and steering were the reasons for this. You are saying the sound of that v8 only keeps it going for so long, at the end of the day a sports car's most important aspect is steering? And I'm guessing you think nothing can replace a smaller nimbler car's feeling? Did I get that right?:)

Minus a few hundred $ yes. Even for a 2016 tech package, that everyone on here seems to think is going to be worth $20 by 2017. :frusty:

I will most certainly do that. Give me a week or two to really put it through its paces, and I'll post up a detailed comparison/review :)

Going to reply to both of these at the same time. I'm a car enthusiast, and I like to try different cars. I missed my shot at a GT4 early on, as I'd been burned by my previous Cayman S purchase, so didn't put a deposit down, and it's something I regretted immensely. I said to myself I was going to keep the GT350 for many years, but if I ever got the chance at a GT4 for MSRP, I'd jump on it - I was honestly never expecting it to happen.

I've had ~40 cars in the past 10 years, and have enjoyed most of them, with the exception of the E92 M3. Each has their own character, ups/downs and that makes all of them an experience in their own right. I don't have any major complaints with the GT350, other than perhaps slightly poor build quality, but I didn't move it on because I missed something else, or because I didn't like it - I just got the offer of a lifetime on the car I'd always wanted to buy!

Is the GT350 big? Yes, it is, but in comparison to cars of similar weight, it did an exceptional job of hiding it. I found it to be pretty nimble too, and despite the slightly numb steering, I wouldn't say it was a factor in my trade in. I found the GT350 to be an exceptional car, and one that I'll always be glad I had the opportunity to own.

I can buy another GT350 any day of the week, but I'll never get another shot at buying a new GT4 in the spec I wanted for sticker.

Agree, good write up. I have been a BMW guy for a long time. Never driven an E30 M3, but had E36, E46 and E92. More power and more weight did not equal more fun. The E36 was a great car, felt light, handled well, decent power for the time. E 46 was powerful, but felt heavy. I was at the E92 launch school at the Ring in 2007. I thought it felt lighter than E46, and was great on the F1 track and the long course. Great high revving V8, but not a lot of torque, and you have to keep the revs high and shift way before redline to keep in the meat of the torque curve. For non track driving just was not overwhelming to be honest, as you say, basically a 3 series with better power, brakes and handling to a degree. I had a Z4 35is which was much more fun in the real world with great low end torque from the N54 twin turbo. But the handling on that was quirky to say the least.
I loved the look of the new Mustang, bought my daughter a 2015 V6. I was set to get the M4 or M2 but 18 monts ago saw the 350GT test videos from Nurburgring. Read everything I could find on it and ordered it in April 2015. My local dealer had 2 coming for 2016 and I picked it up April 2016. I must say this is everything it is supposed to be.
Just a great looking car. The build quality on mine is first rate. I agree on the steering, but still very very good. The brakes are insane, M cars never braked like this. Amazing grip and the engine, well who gives a rats ass about the radio, I ride with windows down!! Ford got pretty much everything right. Can't wait to get some track time where I can really compare it to the M 3's, but I think I know the result already.
