Right chaps, been doing some searching on the OBD port for my Fiesta ST, the OBD port has it's own fuse which can be removed, ok they can replace it but not without setting the alarms off as they need to reach right into the car to replace it, that's if they carry spares, can anyone tell us soon to be Mustang owners whether the OBD ports have there own fuse and isn't used for anything else electrical? I gather the Mustang has 2 OBD ports.
Anyway I know they'll still nick it if they want to but for me it's more a piece of mind thing and maybe a way of slowing them up or even better making them leave without your car.

Bugger!! Thought this was going to be easy :frusty:
Looks like you're going to be sleeping in the car till we come up with a better plan!

It's the only way you're going to know your pride and joy is safe from would-be thieves :paddle:

As my car won't be used that much could I just take the starter motor fuse out when I leave it in the garage for a few days, then just blonk the fuse back in when I want a weekend drive, would this do any harm to the car other than (i'm guessing) it not starting??

I hate the fact people even have to worry about this...scumbags! :paddle:

Surely if its tucked up in a garage, and could you even block the garage with another car? I'm not sure i'd be too worried then, like everyone says, if someone really wants it, they'll prob get it somehow anyway!....crack out that sleeping bag!

You could block the garage, however, my friend at work just got back from a 3day trip abroad, he came back and his house was skinned, all 3 cars gone (Nothing too flashy, but all 3 were gone), and his house skinned.

If someone were to rob your house, taking 3 cars isn't much of an issue.

For 'trips away' i'm taking BOTH sets of keys with me, along with the manual fob. I'm not running the risk of losing it due to that.

God dammit. Don't like these posts...whilst I am quietly confident theft in my area is not going to happen, I realize that my Mustang is sat at home today, on the driveway (drove the Fiesta to work), all alone, keys in the house

I think I will start taking the keys with me everywhere! Or get one of those protective "faraday" cage boxes/bags & hide them somewhere in the house :ninja: seems extreme & I don't like to do it but I would feel a fool if someone stole it & I hadn't taken any precautions!

We're just analysing every extremity Kristian. Hypothetical vs Practical.

Practically i'll have plenty of precautions on the car to protect it, but if it gets stolen, it gets stolen doesn't it... It's one of them 'in awe' things of how desperate someone would be do disable multiple security systems, driveway bars, security on other cars etc, then erm, it's kind of a 'fair play' cracking amount of effort in there, but just a mammoth hassle, insurance will fork out the cost and i'll just buy another, and a gun*

*Guns a joke.

"multiple security systems"? I have a cat
CCTV, garage, drive bollard, high tech house alarm...
Actual security on the car, a lot, it's called not having it yet haha!
