I had a 2013 M3 and it was the best car I've ever owned. The leather was very high quality, the clutch couldn't be outdone, and the ride was excellent. It was an awesome daily and balanced at the track. I was excited to get an M4, but the inline six left me wanting. So, for 1/3rd the price, I picked up a Mustang GT and never looked back. With a wicked MBRP race exhaust, rubber components gone, and a twin turbo kit on the way, you can't beat it. There's a race in April at Summit Point and I'm going with my buddy and his M4. That will be the day of final judgement. If the Mustang beats the M4 at the track, I'm sold completely. There's nothing more fun, reliable, and smiles per mile than the Mustang, especially at the cost.

What does this have to do with the M2 vs GT350? It's no contest, only an M6 would require thought. GT350 all day over an M2.

Interesting review. Some aspects were quite positive, but it wasn't as glowing as I expected. Don't know if their expectations were too high, or if they will like it more when they do a comparison with other cars. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Would like to see a comparison between this, the Camaro 1LE, and the GT350. Maybe they should have the M4 in there as well. And something comparable from Audi and Mercedes.

The next Motortrend Head2Head will feature the M4 and the Camaro SS. If only they would add all of the others you listed. That would be one awesome shootout. Sorry for the derail.

Motortrend just put up their M2 First Drive. Seems a bit more positive than the C&D version. I noticed that the Figure-8 time is 0.1 seconds faster than the GT350 time (24.1 for the M2, compared to 24.2 for the GT350). The GT350 has a much faster 1/4 mile time, so it will probably do better on larger tracks, but it looks like the M2 might be as fast or faster on tighter ones.

Still don't want to get rid of my E92 M3...its probably a 2017 GT350 or keep my E92..I'm considering going on a normally aspirated build for my E92...Shcrick cams, new software for 8600+rpm and a 4.10 BMW motorsport gear set...

I almost sold my E92 M3 for a 2015 GTPP, I felt it was a big downturn. Maybe not in performance but in feel as well as build quality. Even the GTPP is underdamped from the factory, it would require suspension work and a host of other items that it came to a point a modded GTPP would be more expensive than the 2013 E92 I already own since new.

Nope, its a heavy lil thing. One of the big magazines has a euro-spec car and its about 100lbs lighter than the M4, US spec with power seats and other standard options will only be 25lbs lighter or so which is inline with what BMW NA is reporting for the curb weights

E92 M3 is a awesome car. One I wouldn't give up for any new BMW either. A 2017 GT350 might be a good replacement though. I personally like my 2016 GT350 track pack better than the E92, but it definitely isn't as luxurious. It is nice enough for my needs though. IMO you already have a great car, so I'd be very careful about finding a replacement. Doing some motor work might be a perfect answer. Makes the car perform even better, but doesn't lose anything that you really love about the car.

To be honest the issue I have with the Mustang is its such a big car now...I saw it next to my E92 M3 when I test drove the car I was considering...and the E92 looked svelte compared to the S550 and it was much more taught. The issue with the GTPP is it is underdamped, which is easily remedied by a FRPP handling pack..

The GT350 would make me forgive this, but then the rest of the car I would have to live with as well. My buyout on my M3 at the end of July is $41K, it will be worth probably in the $46-48K range. I was offered $50K just 4 mos. ago. To go into a GT350 if I got one for MSRP is darn near $60k....thats my dilemma.
