2015 Mustang Wheel Hop Testing with BMR Suspension

With the introduction of the 2015 Mustang and its new independent rear suspension, many feared it would experience the dreaded wheel hop found in most IRS-equipped vehicles.

While Ford’s new integral link IRS design is light years ahead of the IRS found in the 2003-2004 Cobra, it is still not without its share of wheel hop issues.

BMR Suspension tested its 2015 Mustang GT and shows us that when spinning the wheels at launch, the tires clearly slip and grip repeatedly causing the entire suspension system to oscillate.  This is caused by deflection of the bushings in the lower control arms, bushings in the cradle and differential bushings.

To combat this, BMR Suspension has developed an entire line of rear suspension parts in attempt to cure all signs of wheel hop on the S550 Mustang, including:

  • BMR Full Spherical Lower Control Arm
  • BMR Delrin Cradle Bushings
  • BMR 95 Durometer Poly Differential Bushings
  • BMR Billet Vertical Links – Rod End/Delrin Combo
  • Factory Toe Rods
  • 18-inch Wheels with 255/40R18 MT ET Street Radial IIs

BMR caught footage showing the performance of the OEM parts and a preview of the effects of its suspension parts.
