I know the manual says 150lb of torque for the lug nuts but man, that seems high to me. Is that what everyone is tighten their lugs to or is anyone going less? I have a HP car. Thanks.

Yes I follow the directions written by Ford engineers.

Never a problem with any wheels I've used. Never had a lug nut loosen or a stud break.

And I always use anti-seize as well.

Every ford and lincoln that has the 14mm wheel studs use 150 ft lbs as the wheel lug torque.

I had the same question as you presented as it is so much higher than the other cars I've owned. The engineers are shockingly smart cats, and I always go with the factory recommendations.

Signature Wheel recommends 135 with a dab of ARP assembly lube on the studs. I follow their recommendations for my set up with Ti nuts and ARP studs.

130 for me. Performance shop I went to also asked me if I wanted the full 150 (that they didn't recommend)

Set mine @ 150# 50 miles ago after rotation and re-checked them this morning and all had backed off 10-15#.

That's because they don't have a torque wrench capable...

If factory wheels and lugs, I always follow what the manual says.

If aftermarket rims, confirm and use the correct lug for that wheel, while asking the maker of that rim what their torque spec is.

I'm using an SVE wheel from LMR. With the provided Gorilla lugs, their recommendation is same as factory: 150 lb-ft / 203 Nm.

BBQ tick, MT-82 being garbage, lug nut torque, it will never end will it? 😂🙈

OP it's not something Ford set - it has to do with the diameter of the bolts, most other cars are a smaller one (12mm I believe vs our 14). The science of the materials and however they compute all that stuff is standard, and it says 150ft/lbs.

I'm not good at math or engineering so I can't explain it better, I am paraphrasing someone who said it a lot better once. It's a basic principles thing and not a Ford says this is how it should be thing. If that makes sense.
