After getting my lowering springs, subframe bushings and racing jounce bumpers done the other day.. got the car aligned today, my car drives and feels so much better now that it is stupid. Most all road harshness is gone, wheel hop is gone, nose dive is gone, "sweet it is" as yoda would say, lol.

Here's a pic I snapped today while it was being aligned, front was toed out a lot other than that it was pretty good. And yes it took them like 15 minutes with sticking old rotors under their lift in order to get the car up on the ramps, really made them work for their $80, lol.

Finally fitted my larger spare. I had the hub bored out, and it's still a tight fit. Took some persuasion getting back off.

But this spare will at least clear brembos when I finally do them.

It's from a hyundai equus. There's at least one other guy on the forums here that did the same thing (he actually shows it clearing the brembos). I got the spare off of ebay a while back for something like a 100 bucks.

The spare has the same bolt pattern, but smaller hub bore. You'll need to enlarge the bore. You can attempt to do it by hand, but I took mine to a machine shop.

But yea, it's a 19" spare rim, and the tire is something like ~27.5 inches tall, which matches the the PP rear wheels (for you guys worried about wrecking the torsen with a spare). The oem spare is 25" I believe.

It fits in the cavity storage fine?
It's a tight fit, but yes. If you take out the air, it'll fit in even better, but then that just requires one more step if you need to use the spare. It's a good idea anyway to carry a compressor since spares usually lose pressure over time and people rarely check them.

^^^Wish this was in the FAQ's somewhere, If I had known, would not have spent $270 on a kit. Machining it out might be deal breaker for some though.

The real deal breaker is that it's kind of a pain in the ass to find in the first place. At the time I bought mine, it was the only one on ebay (there might be more now, I haven't checked).

The machining part wasn't so bad. I emailed a few companies in my area of what I needed, and a few responded back. Some will quote you stupid $$$ just because they don't really want to do it. Finally found someone that would do it for me for a reasonable price.

Honestly though, if I were to do it again, I would just buy one of those race star 18x5 drag skinnies, and use that as a spare. It's pricy, but that solution will fit fine out of the box.

Edit: Also, if you do happen to go with this spare, you need new lug nuts. You need a flange style nut, or a nut with washers. I found a set of open flange lugs from dorman that fit perfect. Dorman #611-295
