So I am getting the itch again and would like to purchase a convertible. I have a '17 GT350 that I have had about a year with 2800 miles on it. Obviously I don't drive these cars much. More of a second car for ma. Anyway looking at a ZL1 convertible, M4 convertible (black with red interior). I am, being offered 56 for my car(sticker was 60) which I believe is very fair from both dealers. The ZL! is hyper blue and both are 6 speeds. Would appreciate then forums thoughts as to either of these cars if you are familiar or something else which I haven't thought of. Thanks.

Don't forget the Jaguar F type. Very pretty and still available in a shouty V8

If you're set on a convertible, personally I would look at the M4 or a Corvette before the ZL1. After all, a convertible is more about style then pure performance. You can't get a V8 Jag with a manual, but you could get the S with the 380hp supercharged V6 in a vert an a manual. For that matter if you aren't looking for huge power, a Boxster Spyder might also be a great choice as a topless performance car (375hp, ~2900lbs).

Corvette would be the only American convertible I'd even consider, but the others all offer more style and curb appeal.

- Buy Mustang Ecoboost convertible
- Swap over all GT350 parts (including engine) to said convertible
- Own the world's only GT350 convertible
- Profit. (...well, maybe not...) ;)

How about 997 turbo cab? They would also hit your price range and are supercars for the price.

M4 with retractible hard top is hard to beat IMO. I had one a few years ago and I loved the fact I could drive it on the highway or in a lightning storm and not have a soft top over my head but still had a vert.

Its funny how no one brought up a Grand Sport or Z06 convertible as an option.
America all the way!! The only down side to the M4 as good as it is it is $20,000 more than the ZL1. The dealer is taking $4000 off on the ZL1. The BMW dealer is taking $5000 off.

Have you driven both?

Of those two choices I'd go with the ZL1. USA all the way!

Good luck with your decision.

I drove all of them. Didn't really like the Z06. Loved the Grand Sport but I had a C7 before I purchased the GT350. Just don't know if the M would hold its value. Finding more people are opting for the performance at such great prices. Tons of '17 M's around but no manuals. Very few ZL1 convertibles out there. Will see. It is probably $200 more a month.
