They had an even at a local small airport this weekend where you could fly in a B17, 24 and 25, or for about 4k you can pilot a P51 or P40. I didn't do any of those, but I did take a tour of the bombers and take some pics of the planes. Thanks to the guys at Cutter Aviation , I was able to get my car on the runway and take some pics with the P51. It was really an honor.

Nice shots. They used to have a similar event at the small airport over here (Buchanan field) . May even be the same planes, but it's been 13 years since i was there.

I bought a ride in a B-17 a few years ago. It was worth every penny. Sitting in the bombardier seat in flight with nothing but plexiglass in front of you is awe-inspiring.

Really cool man, was this at deer valley airport? I was on the 17 and saw what looked like an old bomber going in for a landing yesterday. It was very cool.

My Dad was a Mustang pilot in WWII, had many stories about missions over Europe. Thanks for the great pics...

Can you do stuff like this still? I’m interested how much did it cost

One of my most memorable moments was being able to walk down the flight line at the 2007 Gathering of Mustangs and Legends as 20 Mustangs started up and taxied off for their big flyover.

I think that these are the aircraft from the Collins Foundation. They come to Austin TX once a year as well. Being inside the B-17 or B-24 makes you realize how brave American air crews were in WWII. Definitely worth the time to check 'em out if they come to your city.

Glorious!! The P-51 is my all-time favorite aircraft and I'm a nut for WWII aviation.

Shot these at the Leesburg airshow back in 2013.

You can still do it. These guys travel to 130 cities every year, but there is a b17 stationed here in Phoenix permanently. Its about 450 to fly in the b17, 24 or 25, and its 2400 for 30 minutes in the p51 or the p40, or 3400 for 60 minutes, but you get to take the controls and fly yourself once you're in the air.

Yup it was at Deer Valley. It was a blast just being there..when I was at the Boeing Museum in Seattle I got to operate the bomb bay door on their B17. It was awesome.

I love the p51, but for me it's the P47N and the F4U. I love those and I switch between the two for my favorites. The N is HUGE!

The Thunderbolt and Corsair are definitely up there in my favorite's list.
