I emailed Fore innovations about E85 maintenance recommendations. I will attach the email. They also sent me a PDF file on how to maintain the vehicle for 85.

I also found a video on YouTube of Palm Beach Dyno and their 85 maintenance issues they ran into.

This is the video :

Thanks for sharing that info from Fore. Good thing I daily my car and my pumps are relatively small (Ti274's) so they don't generate as much heat as some of those huge pumps.

No problem! Did you see the sludge he found on his filter and injectors? What a nightmare.

Yeah, that makes me nervous. I am currently running a stainless filter. I am going to need to look into one of those micro-glass filters.

I got to drive my car more. PBD built my car and told me straight up, drive the car and I haven't been. I also have a Fore Innovations fuel system for my Procharger.

1/2 tank a week is a lot of gas. Maybe Iā€™ll start running just a quarter tank when I want to run E so I can top off with 93 if the car is going to sit.

If you know, is there Any reason to run a supplemental filter with the factory fuel setup and E85?

I do not know how good the factory fuel filter is, but I would assume it's pretty good to the point that they can warranty these engines despite the vastly different quality of fuel throughout the country. So I would think you are pretty well covered.

I think I can make 700WHP safely with my setup on 93 and my low compression motor. Iā€™m making the switch. If I have a race then Iā€™ll switch to E85 but what Iā€™m not gonna do is let it sit in there and destroy my car

I saw that same video and immediately ordered a Radium Microglass filter (6 micron) . I Had been running a Fore Stainless steel filter. 4,000 miles of nothing but E70 (we don't get E85 here). When I removed it, it was spotless. I think that sludge and buildup you seen in his video must either be that he was getting bad fuel, or that water was making its way into his tank. Ethanol is hygroscopic and so if you live in an area with high humidity, it's more important to make sure there is fresh fuel cycling through the system.

As far as fuel temp goes, After an hour of driving, I will see around 100 degree temps. My ethanol sensor is on the return side of my system, right after the drivers side rail and before the pressure regulator. Im sure over time that the fuel in the tank would eventually reach that temperature, but this thing goes through it so fast, that even a couple hours of spirited driving and Im filling the tank back up with cold fuel anyway

So, how does a person store an E85 car over winter then?

By draining the E out of it, or burning it up and then filling the tank with gasoline (and flashing the appropriate gasoline tune obviously) prior to storage.

I know a decent amount of guys who store it over the winter with E in it, and fire right up when they take it out in the spring and report no issues. That being said, I would probably do as Sheepdog said and run it down very low, flash the appropriate tune at the gas station as I filled up with 93, add some Stabil, drive it home and call it good. Mine won't sit though. I put 200+ miles a week on mine every week unless there is snow on the ground.
