Did a search and haven't found a lower rms speaker, lol...

The factory amp is weak!

Why not go for a cheaper option if you can't maximize power on these anyways?

Found cheaper with better sensitivity and frequency response for half the price: Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 600W 8" TS Series Dual 2 ohm Shallow Mount Car Subwoofer $65

Theres also a kenwood

Kenwood KFC-XW800F $85

They are all 150W RMS ratings...

Would use the factory grille cover if possible if not then im just buying the pucnh with grill like Chef jpd did.

The RF punch is 300 peak, but 50-150 rms.

Isn't the RMS rating the only true power of a subwoofer and not peak?

http://knowledge.sonicelectronix.com/car-audio-and-video/car-amplifiers/rms-vs-peak-power/

Im thinking peak dosent matters... kenwood sub is also 50 to 150W pioneer not sure... would have to verify another valid info source
Using RMS values when matching amps to speakers at least keeps it an apples-to-apples comparison. Mostly. Companies use a lot of creative marketing to make their products look more impressive than they are. Some manufacturers use an RMS rating for their power amps measured at 1kHz rather than across the accepted 20-20kHz audio band.

Similarly, a company might say their subwoofer goes to 30Hz and has an efficiency rating of 101dB @ 1w, 1m, but don't show that 30Hz was 20dB down from the frequency from which it derived the efficiency number. And it's not unusual for companies to use an efficiency rating well outside the operating band for which the subwoofer is intended simply because it yields a much higher number.

Too many people focus on power ratings only. I see it here and in other audio related industries. Doubling power from 100w to 200w to a pair of speakers that can handle the power only yields a 3dB increase in SPL. Someone with a 500w system might have a great sounding system that gets noticeably louder than another person with a 2000w system. There are many "it depends" when it comes to audio & sound.

Thanks for posting I'll be doing this soon, how hard was it to get to the center speaker?

I bought @Chef's center speaker but it cannot be mounted if your car does not have the 2 gauges(oil gauge/psi) in the middle. There's no space in my mustang gt 2015 PP non performance package because i have an extra AC vent right in the middle so i have no access to install the speaker underneath the center of the dash...

Do not try this if you are just replacing this speaker and have a full set of AC vents blocking the way.

I will need a recommendation for a speaker that can be mounted from the top with clearance...

:(:(:(:(:(

Is the replacement speaker way bigger than the stock one ? Thanks for the heads up on this.

The speaker is the same size, the tweeter protrudes about 1/2" above the speaker surround.
Honestly, I bottom mounted mine, but the panel thickness is no more than 1/8"

Maybe clearancing the bottom of the grill would work.

It's just the tweeter height.

Yes, you would crush the tweeter if mounted from above trying to close the dash speaker cover. This saturday i will make that hole big enough so i can mount it from below like chef, will also try to install the jbl gto19t tweeters.Currently mounting the subwoofer... install seems pretty easy so far.

So i bought the pioneer pioneer ts-sw2002d2, haven't tested higher than 60% but a noticeable shaker harder hit was felt around just 20-40% volume so it's definitely better than factory, don't want to go to hard on it yet as there is a... break in for it?

Happy with 45 minute medium volume test i did, you can feel the seats shake that's the first thing i noticed when seated.

So the Pioneer definitely hits better than the stock sub ? I am buying it if you are happy with it as I want to upgrade it if its worth it

this sub is "louder" than the factory unit, if that makes sense.
Also gives much more of a punch to the bottom.

I find that I can play some hard hitting EDM louder with this at a much better sound quality level.
Its not like a night and day improvement, but is very noticeable. Very much worth the minimal cost..

combined with the front tweeters and center, the soundstage is MUCH better.
Is this the tweeter you used ?
