DIRECTED TO STEEDA TECH - LIFE EXPECTANCY

Yes, the bearings can be replaced or serviced only. When being replaced use loctite stud and bearing mount. The service bearings are 19.95 each.

Thank you,

Steeda Tech

Serious question, what is the replacement interval on a street driven vehicle? I bought these mounts and installed them several months ago.

Also for anyone out there the stock shock absorber dust covers do not lock into these mounts like the factory ones. I used rancho suspension accordion or bellows type covers with limited success. Thanks, YCB

.

We have not had one wear out yet. Plus, they have seen severe track duty days with no issues.

It is a very high quality bearing custom preloaded with a teflon wiper to keep the actual bearing clean and free of debri.

Our test vehicle has over 70000 miles with no issues.

I'm daily driving mine through the super salty MN winters. Is this something I should expect to reduce the life of the unit? If so, is there some sort of way we could seal the top end of the mount from the elements, kind of like how the factory pieces have the plastic fitting?

I'm loving these things so far and just want to take care of them.

I agree and had the same concerns, I liberally applied some sil-glyde silicone brake hardware grease onto the nut, spindle area. I then cleaned the top of the mount with some alcohol and applied a square piece of gorilla brand duct tape over it which had the top of the shock mount shaft poke through. I then took a black rubber washer, similar diameter to a toilet tank bolt over that and then finally put a black vacuum nipple cap over the end which holds it in place and keeps the grit out. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures but its been holding up just fine. Its unobtrusive, doesn't look to ghetto and should keep the grit out. I'm not concerned about moisture.

Those are some good suggestions. I'll have to try to do something like that.

I'm getting really sick of winter, maybe I should just move south. It's always below 0 and the roads are always salted. Makes being a car guy (or just a human being in general) difficult.

Look at how much salt is on the stang. I try not to be precious with my possessions as they are just things. But all that I can think of is how rusty this car will get eventually. Ughhh...

Third and last winter on the stang for me. A 2000's 4x4 manual ranger will be in my drive this fall.

Haha same here. Especially how much snow we got this winter here in Chicago is insane! Hopefully my Mazdaspeed6 will be fired up in March! :headbang:

Good news, we are looking at a solution!

Steeda is in the process of testing a cap to protect the bearing at the moment.

We'll have more to report in a couple of days - stay tuned.

Best Regards,

TJ

I was wondering about having a cap. I drive mine in fair weather most of the time, but I took one look at the stock cap and said, "Yep, this isn't going to work."

Definitely love my shock mounts paired with other items. Nice solid and good looking mount. If you guys end up getting caps for these, I would be interested and I'm sure everyone else would be too.

Awesome. Definitely something that will help to protect the bearing. Hope to see it come to market soon!
