I am thinking about upgrading my Hellion twin turbo to an air to water setup. I would love to see what you guys are running and the how you like the setup. The current A2A is fine until I try to make a full 1/4 pass on a warm day above 80 degrees.

What kind of iat temps are you seeing on a full pass with 80deg ambient?

I ran an A2W setup before but it was on an MR2 Turbo which only had side vents to cool the intercooler which was insufficient airflow when you increased the boost.

For your setup the only gain from an A2W setup would be if it was primarily a drag car so you could ice the tank before runs.

Otherwise an A2A setup will outperform an A2W system on the street and with a lot less complexity.

You can increase the efficiency of your intercooler with ducting to ensure any air entering the openings in the bumper can't go around the intercooler.

Hello. We now have a couple intercooler upgrades depending on what you are looking to do. We have a 6 inch air to air cooler and we also have a air to water with Genuine Garrett cores. Both will mount in the same location in the front.

I have seen a few guys increase airflow to the intercooler but it did not make much difference in IAT. My car is fine if it is cooler than 80 but much warmer and it gets up to 170 IAT. I think a larger A2A might help but I am not sure how well any A2A works when you are using 95 degree air o cool it.

I'm curious what your turbo outlet temperatures are pre-intercooler. I plugged your numbers into a calculator and assuming a low range 60% intercooler efficiency it put your outlet temperatures at 305 degrees.

Where are your intakes pulling air in from and what turbos and pressure are you running?

I went back and looked at my logs on 04/11/21 and the temp was 80 degrees when I made a pass. My starting IAT was 95 and ending IAT was 154. That was on about 16lbs of boost. I have the hellion sleeper kit with them mounted under the car pulling air through the K&N filters up next to the block.
