S197 GT500 axle back sound on an S550?

I'm in the process of researching what exhaust I like the sounds of. I'm more old school and prefer the deep sound, rather than the raspy tone. The Magnaflow sounds great outside of the car, but I hear too many state the drone is just too much.

With that, I'm leaning towards the Corsa Sport cat back. But, I was wondering if anybody has duplicated the GT500 axle back sound from the S197? My 2014 GT is mechanically stock, but has the GT500 axle backs, and I love the sound. For the S550, does anything compare? Thanks.

I mean, you can go pick up some used GT500 mufflers and pay a shop to fit/hang them in your S550. There have been a few threads on this specific mod if you do a search. I looked at this option for a bit, even tried to buy a set of mufflers or two. The hardest part will be finding some good used ones for a good price.

Personally I do love the Roush Axleback mufflers, nice and deep throaty sound and no drone in the cabin, despite being louder than stock.

Scottmoyer, would you mind measuring the overall length of the GT500 mufflers? I'm thinking of picking up a set for my '15 that already has an H-pipe.

I’m also old school and wanted a deeper muscle car sound with no rasp. I went with Pypes Street Pro axlebacks. Very pleased with sound and volume isn’t crazy loud either.

Not sure if you were looking for the mufflers themselves or the entire length of the axle back, but from clamp to tip is 33" on the driver's side and 32" on the passenger side.

The single tip 11-12 GT500 axlebacks sound amazing and fit right in with just come cutting and welding. Absolutely 0 drone.

search youtube. i ended up with 2011 axlebacks with a lethal performance h-pipe and i am very happy with the results.

The mufflers themselves. I want to pick up a set of GT500 mufflers, cut and weld them to my system. Want to get a game plan going and it would be nice for a start.

Thanks a million Scott. I just bought a brand new set of GT500 axleback mufflers on ebay for $325 still in the box. Not too bad :cheers:
