Here is a new topic for anyone thinking of resonator delete instead of axle-back or full cat-back.

Keen to see people's thoughts on this...

I think this actually sounds really good and likely lot cheaper for us than replacing the whole exhaust.

Like the sound and since I am not really looking for a performance increase via exhaust I will definitely keep this in mind once my car shows up and I can decide whether I am happy with the factory sound. Thanks OP.

Always been the option I've been looking at - more traditional muscle car sound, less weight and not an expensive full blown replacement of what is a good exhaust

Cj has a alumininised h pipe on sale for $83usd or the mrt stainless steel for $213usd

Otherwise most local muffler shops should be able to fabricate one as well

Did this to my XR5 when I first got it and it worked a treat - 60 bucks for the muffler guy to put in some straight pipe.

The big question is whether they fit RH drive vehicles. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't but someone asked that question on the CJ page and they said "Don't know - never tried on a RH drive" which makes me wonder.

I've got a lethal full stainless h pipe for sale guys. Will work with RHD, all the same. $250 posted within Australia. The aluminised ones will rust, I'd spend the extra for stainless, going the cheap option will cost you more in the long run.

so this is separate to the cats?
Yep, resonator is just behind the cats. Looks like a huge rectangular muffler.
Theory is to replace the resonate with an x-pipe or h-pipe to reduce sound absorption.

Wow to the first clip, Love it.

The second....... not my personal taste, sounds like a high performance diesel speed boat. yuk.

I tend to agree
Prefer the sound through the x pipe
I'm booked in to see the exhaust guy the following weekend.
Will update this post with results.

The H pipe doesn't sound good with quad tip exhausts, sound good with Roush Axle backs though.
