When I changed the oil filter I tried to get a rag in the area around the filter but that didn't leave me much room to get the filter out so I had to do a lot of cleaning after wards but definitely a tight fit to get your hand through the small gap that they leave for you.
Had a look to see what you blokes were on about while fitting my exhaust tonight, that has to be the worst filter placement ever. Car is a def candidate for a remote oil filter mount if you plan on doing it yourself regularly.

Please post a parts list and where you mounted it if you or anyone else does it.

Did my oil change a few weeks ago at 7500 k's, and for the last 2 weeks have had a 'CHANGE OIL SOON' message appear just after every start.

It clears when OK is pressed. Owners manual says that it illuminates when there is 10% of engine oil life left. Not sure how it calculates that? Thought it might have been a viscosity thing. As I went for a 5W-30 oil as stated in the manual, however the USA use 5W-20 I think.

Wasn't too concerned as I knew it had fresh oil. So I spoke to my local dealer today who had no clue. To their credit they responded in an hour, to say I needed to do an 'OIL LIFE REST' through the instrument cluster settings. Tried it and it worked!

Googled the topic and found something to help.

Penrite 5w30 as per Fords 3rd revision of the specifications. Not sure about anyone else but my service manual and user manual had different info, the 5w30 rating was the most recent one.

Just did oil and filter at 3200km pulled about 75ml out of catch can,
now using the penrite 5w30 so will see how we go next weekend driving to adelaide. ( oil life was showing 61% before i reset it)
