I've been researching the new Mustang the last few days and finally got to drive one. It was an Ecoboost Premium with 20's, Nav, and a few other bells and whistles but it was the 3.15 rear end. Guard in color which was and still is my first choice although i want to see the Silver too. The sales guy let me put it in Track mode with TC off and that really woke it up from Normal mode.
The engine was torquey and revved well, sound was better than my 2.0T Cadillac ATS for sure. The 6 speed auto shifts well and the paddles were quite responsive, not DSG like but better than i expected. The interior was really nice, i don't think i could get a Base now but i will look at one with Recaro's if i can find one to check out in person.
Ride and Handling: This is a very important part of my decision and the car rides very well even with the 20's. I have 19's on my car with 245/35's and ride quality was fairly comparable. The Mustang feels a little heavier than my ATS but its not really a bad thing, just different i'm sure i would get used to it.
The 2015 VW GTI that i'm also considering is a very different car and has the lighter nimble feeling that i like and just inspires a lot of confidence to push it harder. I'm looking forward to some seat time in an Ecoboost Performance Pack car to see if those changes put it at the top of my list. I don't have much experience driving older Mustangs but this one is quite nice. Ford has done a nice job and the car has loads of potential.
Edit: sorry about the picture quality, it was almost dark and my phone didn't do a very good job at showing how nice the car looks in person.
When i was driving off i kept looking back at it.
