I just personally felt like a Mustang should feel simplistic. With the S550 already being heavier than a lot of cars, not having luxury features found in sedans was something I would be OK with not having. I honestly don't think you can go wrong either way.

If you are into tech and comfort, premium. If you are into more of the sporty aspect of cars, PP... if you're into both, get both lol.

There's more to the PP than just Brembos and suspensions. Just like people justify base over premium and upgrading later, it's not the same for the PP either. You get other things such as the center gauges, the machined aluminum, upgraded bushings, supports, etc.

I'm a techy but I'm just not attracted to things such as lighting, so ambient lighting, puddle lights, illuminated door seals are completed forgettable by me. But I can say when I see videos occasionally of someone with a purple glowing interior, I will briefly notice it and think "cool".

The upside to cloth seats are they do not get nearly as hot as leather. My last WRX was limited with all the extras and I just felt like I overlooked everything that the limited was intended to be bought for. The only nice thing is it held it's value better than non limited trims.

I am in the same situation - undecided if I am going with a 2018 or 2017 - but leaning towards the 2017. Now if I should go with Base PP GT or Premium PP GT.
If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for your out the door price?
PM me if you wish to share. Thanks
Can't remember exactly, but the car was in stock at my local dealer so I bought it for invoice plus holdback and what ever incentives were offered at the time. Out the door was around 38.5 k. MSRP was 43k

Don't buy the PP if you plan on going FI you're going to want that 3:31 gear when you do.

Plus you can go get the frpp track pack and be better than the PP suspension wise and it's cheaper.

The bremos aren't needed unless your going to the track.

You're going to want premium if it's a DD.

What options did you have on your Mustang GT?
That sounds like a good deal.

I'm an engineer, so all the nifty PP bits were a must-have.

And I wanted porno red leather, so the Premium was also a must-have. :D

Have the performance packages historically cost around the same for the upgrade? Would it be reasonable to say that it'll cost >50% more given the new tech in addition to the upgraded but standard performance package items?

Any ideas on whether the rumored 2 performance packages will be tiered or two separate packages? Example: Tier 1 has etc. but Tier 2 has Tier 1 + additional. Or PP (1) or PP (2) with slight cross over of basics but different major components?

When I test drove the 16 ecoboost mustang at the Houston auto show the Ford rep didn't seem to reason why two separate pp's would be offered versus the standard pp. But when digging into pricing he seemed to think a premium pp GT would push the pricing into the 40s.

I am not commenting on what was important to you or anyone.

My point in these posts was that you can rebuild the PP in aftermarket (though, for obvious reasons, you may want to skip the torsen) and you cannot rebuild the premium package.

Being able to add leather seats, a sync 2 knock off and some led light strips does not change this fact.

The big items in the premium package items simply aren't available:

- sync 3 (not possible to upgrade to as far as I know)
- dual zone climate control
- 4 drive modes on a toggle switch
- cooled seats (well, maybe these are available)
- integrated ambient lighting with MyColor

If in your comparisons you are stuck on needing to upgrade the standard limited slip to torsen (which I can't see 99% of people doing) and it's associated complexity, it is a little disingenuous stating one can just use a sync 2 knock off instead of upgrading to the factory sync 3 unit which would not be trivial (if even possible in base car) or cheap.

At the end of the day, you are right - it is whatever floats your boat. That just wasn't the point I was trying to get across.
I stand by the assertion its easier and less expensive to go from PP to near Premium than vice versa. There are a lot of changes in the PP beyond just brakes, diff, and sway bars.

You can get a sync 3. There's a guy on these forums who offers them. But to me the difference simply wasn't worth it. And I suppose the same can be said for those without the PP who enjoy the pillowy body roll of their vehicles. It doesn't matter to them. ;)

The base PP GT offered a value that was hard to pass up. I knew what I wanted to spend and what features mattered. But I did want leather and a touchscreen. I don't mind elbow grease, in fact I enjoy it.

The beauty of this platform is you have several starting points to make it your own.

A GT with PP at low 30's is an insane deal for a 435hp car as capable as it is.

I really like the PP features besides the 3.73 gear ratio  . I wish there was a way to swap that 3.73 with the 3.31 from factory along with the PP

If you absolutely have to choose between the two and it's not a track car, I don't know why you wouldn't go with the premium. Keep in mind though the 20" foundry wheels if you want those are I think a $1200 add on. To me, the interior of the premium is just so much better than the base models that makes my mind up right there and the brakes are fine unless you plan on going around a road course and heating them up like crazy. And you need a bigger radiator for what passing the 18 wheelers doing 59mph on the highway. And I guess you PP guys really like to see how fast you can corner to get to McDonalds in the 30mph zones with the bigger sway bars and stiffer suspension. For a couple hundred bucks you can throw on some BMR performance springs on the premium car and have a much sweeter look and just as good handling anyways. Bottom line for my advice to you would be unless you plan to autocross the car some, it's an easy choice on which car would feel and look nicer. Especially on the inside where you know you spend all your time when driving :)

No, you can't.

But I do agree the interior is a big difference. It's really best to get a Premium PP car, just get both.

I know i prefer leather seats over cloth, thats why I will be opting for the premium. However, I also prefer taller gearing as I might be adding a SC down the road

Adding a SC would be all the more reason to get the PP. You need the suspension, brakes, traction, cooling, etc., that come with the PP when you add power.

Is there a big difference in MPG? I read somewhere that 3.73 is pretty bad on gas.
