I have a 2013 gtr with 640 whp with 29xxx miles and I've had zero transmission problems
The three GTR's I've driven an 09, then a 2011 and then a 2013 have all had very weird quirks. The first two felt very jerky. The 2013 felt like it didn't know what it was doing in auto mode. Okay, so maybe that last trans wasn't terrible and more the shift logic was terrible. But the first two were just pitiful.

where did you hear this from? or are you spreading BS because your bored? BMW's have had direct injection for years and they require 91
This is coming from every luxury automaker that uses direct injection technology. Even a lowly premium car like the TLX requires 91.

And sorry, I should have stated 91 octane and not 93 as that is not accurate. But to answer a question from earlier, I would bet that 91 becomes the recommended gasoline.

Awww the poor guys over at slowmaro6g must be all

This is probably true. But unfortunately for us. This upgrade will just pull us even with them. And they are due for a refresh and more power next year. So keep modding kids.:headbang:

Nice. tremendous improvement in horsepower.

The previous config was less powerful than the competition last confit and the new one is more powerful than the competition new config.

Was expecting 470, but I think they left room to dial up when Chevy does.

I'm guessing the power curve on this bad boy looks good in the ramp.

And the auto 10 speed was a given in terms of what it would do to performance.

When Chevy adds it to the SS, it will be a fight once again. For now,

I think we all know the confit to get when it comes to the GT.

VERY NICE INDEED.

Hey guys my 2015 ecoboost f150 has direct injection and it takes 87. Take that for what it's worth.

The '18's are drool-inducing and these initial numbers are incredible. PDI can give an engine between 25-35hp so I'm betting there is more there. The 0-60 and 1/4 Mile figures are taking it straight to the Camaro. This will not help it sell any better... I am willing to bet '18 sales rival the '15's.

Direct injection doesn't dictate octane requirements. It's how the DI is tuned, the timing map, and the compression ratio being used with that DI. You can have a DI engine with minimal timing advance and compression ratio on the conservative side and run fine on 87. Or you could have a hardcore race engine with 13:1 compression, port injection, and insane advance like 30 degrees at WOT. Good luck with that 87...

The Eco doing sub 5 secs is pretty damn quick for a stock 4 cylinder. How much would you have to spend on a stock PP 2017 Eco to get it below 5 secs? At least 2-3k. 500 accessport, 150 for tune, 500-1000 for intercooler, 200-400 for intake, and maybe another 200-400 dollars for a down pipe.

Makes me wonder if they upgraded the turbo on the Eco.

If you have not done so yet, check out the bitching going on at slomaro6. Lol they are all pissy. Some of them seem to dig the numbers but the vast majority appear to use the same arguments that occur each month when the sales figures are out hahahahaha.

Man what a great day. Always nice to be surprised. Safe to say my work is slacking today as my eyes are glued to my phone. Lol

BTW I started a 2018 vs thread in the vs subsection.

See?

That's why I used IIRC.......give myself a way out when I'm wrong.

Although in my defense, it was Mr. Jeremy Clarkson that gave me the wrong impression on the GTRs transmission.

He's not exactly a prime source for technical information.

Look at how the 10 Speed Raptor gets out the hole compared to the old 6 Speed Fiest Gen Raptor both trucks have 600hp from what i can see the 10 speed is no joke [ame=""]

Most luxury brands were recommending or even requiring premium fuel before direct injection engines were being produced. MB was among those.

Guys, direct injection alone does not necessitate a higher octane. It's just that direct injection typically allows for/goes hand in hand with a higher compression ratio, which will usually command higher octane.

... I don't remember what the compression ratio is for the updated 5.0, though. But there's no way it's going to require more than 91, and even then, I'm sure you'll be able to run 87 or 89, and the engine will just retard ignition timing and sacrifice some power and/or fuel economy.
