Hello folks,

I wanted to start a thread listing the standard gt350 splitter fasteners that get ground up with use. Last night I replaced mine (sorry no finished picts) which was super easy.

The torx screws (total 11) are part W708464-S450B. The rivets (total 22) are W705297-S417.

They drill out very easy. You need to get some vice grips on the back side of the rivet so it doesn't spin in place. There is no shim in back that the rivet attaches to. It mushrooms out in 4 large sections to secure it.

If anyone would like to borrow the rivet gun send me a PM. I ask that you keep it no longer than 2 weeks so other members can use it.

I'm not a rivet expert, wouldn't any $30-40 rivet gun on Amazon work? Or are they sized in a certain way?

Thanks for the rivet part number.

The rivets are too large for any standard rivet gun I have found off the shelf. None of the tools I found from Stanley, Harbor Freight, Home Depot or Lowes would fit. I had to order this special one from McMastercarr.

They are probably 1/4" rivets. I have a big gun like that and you are not doing it any other way.

I just picked up this rivet tool from Harbor Freight: Rivet Tool. Only $19.99, and it works with the splitter rivets just fine. I wouldn't count on it for any real heavy duty work, but I don't expect to be replacing the splitter rivets more than once a year, at most. It should work fine for that. (Again, not to show a lack of appreciation for the OP's offer to loan his out, but I thought I'd save him the shipping costs. :) )
