Thanks for all your insight Topnotch.

Question: I'm going on a limb and guessing on a couple things

1) Ford will turbocharge the new Gt500 simply because they don't have a production D.I. V8 yet. It's easier to boost a port injected vehicle.

2) Mach 1 will be an options package on the GT with 455Hp via Ford performance parts.

3) Ford will wait for the 2020-2021 model to unveil the DI V8.

They probably won't do it due to engineering costs, but one cool way to get improved packaging and less lag is to do a "hot v" engine where you reverse the cylinder heads and put the turbos up top, between 'em.

Would make sense from a timing perspective. The first Mach 1 was introduced in 1968 as a 1969 model-year car. 2019 would be the 50th anniversary of that trim.
