And I thought the Challengers were heavy. I just looked at the sticker on mine. Where is all that weight coming from?

GVWR is maximum weight, not empty weight. A loaded S550 should be around 3800 - 3900 pounds, then if you add passengers and luggage, you get GVWR.

Are you talking about the GVWR? If so that is the weight limit of the car. The cars weight plus the occupants and whatever else you have in the car.

Ah! thanks now it makes sense. I took it down to the scales at the COOP and it weighed 3800 with me in it. So looks like 3650 since I weigh 150

3650 is light. My premium auto weighed 4010 with a 260 pound driver.

Looks like 10 grand to drop 100 lbs..........
HaHa this is why Ford doesn't include all of these.

Does bring up a good point. Appears 10 speed is about same weight
as 6 speed auto, so minimal if any weight gain there. I'd assume dual EFI has got
to add a couple lbs.

IMO, the S197 was the limit on what these stangs should weigh. With
rear seat delete and no spare, my 14 weighed in @ 3515 (no one
in it) on ATCO's scale.

I've always wondered when they said the S550 did not gain that much weight,
but most of them come spareless (or it is at least optional), when the S197 almost
all had spares.

Doubt they get back to 197 weights, but any more and certain versions might
be pushing 2 tons. Wonder if there is any other unreported weight savings in the 18
that will surprise?

The spare on the S197 was an option as well. At least that's what I was told when I bought mine. Which did not have a spare.

Maybe with PP, but I bought new, base GT with auto
as only option. Spare was std equipment.

2017 I drove recently which had base 18" tires had
spare listed as option @ $225 or $295 (or close to that).

Yeah, but it's really too short to be of use, by over an inch. Would work for the front but could damage/wear the rear's LS. Full size spare would fix that but probably add a few pounds to the rear...better traction?
