Going on a 2 k round trip .....plasti-dip is 25 bucks a can in Canada....and I hate the idea anyways. So my solution is to coat it in wax and put 2 layers of painters tape as a way to protect it the paint from rocks....any other cheap alternatives that work

it is a freaking car. drive the thing and clean the bugs off when done.

If you want the car to stay "show room new", leave it in the garage.

Follow cars at farther distance and avoid driving at high speeds.

Was watching a video on supercharger installation. Looked like they took some cheap vinyl wrap and put it on the fenders for protection. It looked just like the stuff they ship new cars with. No clue where to buy it, but thought it would be great for working on the engine, also for what you are trying to do.

First thing I did when I bought my GT was get a clear bra put on it, cost like $700, but I'm glad I did it.

Clear bra/paint protection film for the bumper and first half of the hood.
As stated above, blue masking tape is your least expensive solution.
Try to avoid the far right (slow) lane as the inattentive driver in front of you may veer onto the shoulder of the road and kick up rocks, glass and other debris into your path.
Generally be alert for distracted drivers everywhere.
Have a safe trip.

It's fairly cheap and you can take it off whenever. Save the front end. :amen:

Some people just don't care about their car. I myself do not want paint chips on my car. To those of you who don't care that's fine. But for a temporary solution I would use tape, bra or race tape. Race tape is one big sheet, you apply it like a wrap and cutaway where you don't need it (grille opening) then when done peel it off and throw it away. A bra can be installed in minutes removed quickly and reused. Masking tape is ugly. But so is a bra lol. But it protects from rocks and chips. I'd go with the bra.

I usually use blue painters tape with good results. Keeps rocks and other debris from chipping/scratching paint, but it doesn't prevent rocks from making indentations into the urethane. I used a LeBra once (borrowed from my dad) - it worked well, but also left some marring/paint dulling on edges/corners of the bumper from either fitting too tight, or having the wind constantly moving the fabric back and forth across the paint. Had to use compound to get as much out as possible, but I still see it in places.

You could always purchase some tracwrap. I wouldn't spend the money on a roll, odds are you can find someone who will cut you ~70"x24" locally, put it on the front bumper and leading edge of hood and off you go. If you want a more long term solution, PPF is the only real answer.

I just ordered a can of Road Warrior Plus. It's designed for temporary paint protection. Looks promising.

I have no experience with this product and I won't be using it until this fall. I wanted to order now because the company is changing hands and I'm not sure what the future holds for the product.
