Couldn't you do those upgrades locally or by yourself without having to send it back to LV?

if you plan on taking the SCT wrap off, why not have them do it for you while the car is out there ?

Yes, I have the ability to do all the mechanical work that was done myself, but if I did, it would just things that I (a nobody) did to a SA SE GT500. It being done by SA means it is all tracked and documented to the car as done by SA and not devalue it in any way.

In this case, the car was in Vegas anyway because it was sponsored in the 2023 SEMA show. I took advantage of it being shipped there and back at no cost to me. No place better to get these upgrades tied to the CSM than SA themselves.

I did consider that, however the place here in MA that installed the wrap was also contracted to remove it. This will also cover any PPF repair or replacement that may be needed in case there is any issue removing the wrap.

The car being in LV makes sense and you have an awesome build going on there. I have a SA car myself, and can't the owner add to the work done in the registry themselves? I just added jacking rails and a Steeda cross member brace - does that mean my car is "devalued" in some way because this nobody did the work? I have a CSM too...

He’s talking about major power adders, not chassis bolt-ons. If he goes to sell his SE the Shelby CSM worksheet will show that his car is Whipple modded etc.

Oh, sure, you can make modifications to your car, especially if they're reversible changes like what you've done. I've also personalized my car to suit my preferences, but I've made sure to keep the original parts so it can be reverted to its original state from Shelby American (SA).

Like any car, and particularly a GT Mustang, people tend to customize them according to their preferences. However, it's worth noting that most people, especially collectors, prefer an unaltered car. They might not appreciate the modifications and, in some cases, may even choose to pass altogether due to these alterations.

In the case of my car being one of the 'first fifteen packages,' certain parts were not available when it was being customized. The G-Force half shafts and the wide-body carbon fiber pieces, for instance, were not yet in production or had a selected vendor at the time. I wouldn't have minded having these shipped to me for self-installation, as this would not have altered the 'value' of the car.

However, the Whipple kit is a different story. The tune is specific to SA (by Whipple) and differs from the tune that comes with a Whipple sourced elsewhere. By having SA install it as they would have if the option were available when my car was there, it becomes an original part of the car rather than an owner modification, if that makes sense. Additionally, since the car had a sponsored trip to/from Vegas, and I learned that SA now offers the Whipple as an additional option for the GT500 SE, I decided to have them install everything while it was at their facility. For these reasons and more, I wanted to have it done at SA.

Short, sweet, and right to the point. Thanks buddy, I should practice this approach but apparently I like to talk, haha.

I get that...I own a 2023 Shelby American GT. I just wanted to better understand the modification lines of delineation as I am in the same boat (from someone who actually owns one..wink wink). Thanks for your interest and support :)

I believe I attached these photos somewhere in the 133 pages of this build, but since referencing the "First Fifteen" package, it made me go look for what came with it, so I took some pictures.

Along with this swag bag, we got a private tour of the facility, a visit with our car in production, and a two hour catered dinner and drinks with the Shelby American organization, including Aaron Shelby. It was a great night, and one I will remember for a long tome (I hope).

I think what may be the most significant item that only those with the first 15 got was the Maroney window sticker, signed by Aaron Shelby.

That’s pretty awesome. Good to see they roll out the red carpet so to speak for the special builds. Not that I’d expect less.

Been following this thread for a while. Amazing car, man! The Whipple upgrade will be insane! My dream car has always been a Super Snake. Now that my car is paid off I’m planning to build my own. It’s cool that Shelby sells most of the parts I would need.
