Did a paint correction on my car and noticed my exhaust tips are looking a little tired. I know they have a special matte black coating so I was wondering if anyone knew what I should use to get them looking nice again? Can I just use normal polish?

To do it right, I suggest that you remove the exhaust, mask off the mufflers, use a Scotch-Bright pad to scuff the tips really good and then clean them with Dawn dishwashing liquid soap, rinse well and dry them. Next, spray paint the tips with high temperature BBQ grill paint (use multiple light coats from an appropriate distance to avoid runs) and they will look better than new.

Please post pics when done, so we can see how the project turns out.

I got around that before it became a problem for me, by deleting my AE and going with a SS Steeda axle back. The factory mufflers went right into the trash.

This product would work on the matte black tips that the bullitt has? I’d definitely be willing to try this option before going the repainting route

Forgot the Bullitt tips are black. The Mothers Polish is probably too abrasive, would likely take the paint off.

A Scrub Ninja pad (or something similar like the Scotch Brite pad that someone else mentioned) and an all purpose cleaner or a degreaser would work well. A wheel cleaner (those are usually safe for painted metal) would also work.

WD40 should be good for cleaning, afterwards degrease it.
