I was thinking about taking a step drill bit and dremel tool to the blocked off honeycomb sections to get some more air.

Some have on the left side of there grills and reported 1-2 degrees drop in intake temp. I haven't seen anyone do the whole grill yet. Would be nice to remove the pony and just have to comb layout in the middle instead of the pony cut out.

When I had a new Fox body taking out the headlight to increase air flow would gain a solid 1 mph in the 1/4 mi. Maybe this will do the same

Wouldn't this let rain into the intake while driving?

Even if it drips down the holes are not big enough to let it get to the intake.

Removing the pony is only going to leave you with a solid plastic silhouette of the pony. No honeycomb behind it.

I opened up my grill too with a dremel, but someone afterwards mentioned using a hot knife to do it very easily.

Did the same mod last weekend. The hot knife works but the honey comb is pretty thick and may take some time, or at least it did with my hot knife. If i could do it over again i would start with dremel to get most of the material then move to a flat file to get the edges then maybe a hot knife to smooth out the edges.
