GT350R in UK

I fell in love with the new Shelby GT350 when I was over in California at Monterey and Laguna Seca last August. Ford has just released the car and there was one on display as part of the 50 year anniversary of the original GT350.

I set about trying to source one in the USA late last year, but was stymied by the dealers' refusal to sell to a non-US buyer. I eventually found a way around this in June and found a dealer with one in Oxford White with blue OTT stripes and the essential electronics package, which puts back the A/C, radio, extra dials etc. that the GT350R loses compared with the base GT350.

The car was transported by Silver Tiger Logistics, and taken to storage in Houston. The car was titled and had plates on at this stage, but we waited weeks for the title document, without which the car could not be shipped.

As it was now mid August I decided to get the car flown from Houston to Liege, with the intention of driving it back, but a chat with my insurer told me that any car must be insured in the country of registration to be driven in the EU, and my trade plates are not valid over the channel, so onto a trailer it went.

This shows some of the differences compared with the standard Mustang S550. The whole front end is different with aluminium bonnet and wings, a far more agressive nose and aerodynamics. The R has an even more agressive front splitter, red highlights on the badges, calipers, OTT stripes and interior trim

Looks awesome! Would love one but couldn't justify the cost nor have a lefty car over here!
