Anything specific to look out for or be aware of if using a Gen2 Voodoo 5.2 liter block for a 5.2 liter Coyote build? Would it have any strength benefit over a Gen 3 Coyote block bored and sleeved for a 5.2 build? I’m assuming It will require a Predator 5.2 crankshaft either way to achieve the 5.2 liters. It will be going In a 2019-20 Mustang GT and will be getting a mid mount twin turbo set up with a 10r80 trans. I’ve seen several used Voodoo blocks in the $700-800 range that would require sleeves in order to be used.
Just wanted to see if there is a strength benefit with a sleeved 5.2 Voodoo block verses a sleeved 5.2 gen3 Coyote block.
1250+ rwhp goal
Thanks
Ken
I have has multiple builds with the every version of the 5.2 /Voodoo/predator and have only had one sleeved .-the original voodoo in my GT 350 after bending a rod causing the piston to damage the liner

it was either that it a new block and a the time sleeving the old block was a cheaper option

but to answer your question the word is a sleeved predator block is the strongest block option out there not counting the Baer/werewolf iron block .

some info from RPG Instagram

You can use the 5.0 crank in the 5.2 block without issue. 5.0 heads bolts up no problem as well.

Your problem will be getting DI pistons with the little dish in the middle, those might need to be custom for the 5.2 bore.
Manley and JE both make Gen 3 coyote piston in a 3.7 bore so no need to use the voodoo pistons(except you score them dead cheap like I did ) .
And when used with the Boss crank youwon’t lose any compression/displacement or quench like you would with a Voodoo piston/Boss crank combo .
Also note the JE Gen 3 coyote pistons don’t even have the “dish “ so it not needed for DI .

And FYI if you are in the market the brand new Gen 2 voodoo blocks can now be had for $1500 plush shipping ... which is incredible . About the same price as the Gen 2 coyote bare block .!

Holy crap! That's alot less than I would have expected for a brand new Voodoo block! I may just have to pick one up, because I know if I wait they'll skyrocket by the time I'm actually ready! I'm still back and forth on the GT350 or an '18+ Mustang GT. Regardless I can use the block for either ;)
Been working on my fiancee to trade her 14k mile '15 v6 Mustang in for a new Mustang GT, which would leave me open for the GT350 :)
Thank you for the links and the info, I greatly appreciate it!

Sleeved Predator block setup here. Boss crank, Molnar coyote rods and 3.700 Manley coyote gen2 type pistons. 12:1 cr. Gen2 heads.

To either of you who have sleeved one if your blocks. What was the cost of sleeves and install if you don't mind me asking?

Prices vary, depending on shop and what else you are having done. Call your engine builder for specific pricing. Ball park is 1800-2k .

Anyone know if you can get the OEM predator cams ?
I am betting they are the same as the 5.2 Ford racing cams for GT350 heads($1400-1800) and will be cheaper.

Why would you assume they are the same? 2 totally different applications.

The Ford racing cams are used in the 5.2 Alluminator long block .
The only differences from the predator are the higher compression pistons /Rods/oil pan .

They both use the same GT350/500 heads . Same firing order (as opposed to the voodoo cams )
Even If they are different I am pretty sure the predator cams would work in a ”home made “ 5.2 /GT350 head long block .
As of now the only available cams are the Ford Racing or L&M cams so the predator cams would be another option .

About $500. for full set. KR3Z-6250A,B,C&D. They will physically interchange but I don't know lift/duration numbers.
