Fill up like any other day. The mustang is my only vehicle now. I only drive about 300 miles a week so it wouldn't break me but I'd have to cut back on some of the other nonsense.

Possibly start putting 87 in it, otherwise nothing else changes.

I'd make cuts elsewhere, and would probably stick to 87.

Right now my gas bill is ~$106/month... 7500 miles/year divided by 20.5 overall avg. mpg X $3.50/gallon = $106.7 so I think I could absorb doubling that. It would just be more incentive to ride my bike (bicycle) to work more often.

Not entirely true, but I get why you might think that. I knew I wouldn't be using the car much anyway, but I love mustangs so I didn't go with the 100% utilitarian decision. I deserve a little thrill when I know I'm going to drive it :)

You guys are silly, don't buy a 5.0 if you can't handle gas prices
Existing prices, sure. But an unexpected, unbudgeted doubling in price is another matter altogether.

either way if a catastrophe happens, you can always sell the car and get a prius. it's not like you're forced to keep a car. enjoy life while you can.
