I am trying to buy a aftermarket full-size spare wheel to fit my brand-new 2015 (non-PP, obviously) GT factory 20" wheels.

I've looked all over the forum, but though I have found the fitment specs are 20x9 with a 5x114 (5x114.3) bolt pattern on here, I cannot find the specs for the offset and backspacing 20s that I have so I can simply match them.

Does anyone know what the offset and backspacing specs are for my factory 20" wheels?

Thank you in advance!

if your intention is to partially contain the spare within the existing wheel well you're going to want to test fit a tire in there first. the 185/55r18 spare snugly fits and the 255/40r19 is more than inch larger in diameter. If I had a tire laying around I'd check it out for you, maybe a tire place will let you borrow one for a few minutes.

taken from the below thread, looks like you'll have to just float it in the trunk.
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?p=261801&highlight=185#post261801

"No, it's not a "full size spare" ...

18" Temporary Spare Weight ... around 32 LBS.
(18x4.5" Cast Aluminum Wheel with T185/55R18 tire)
Jack, Wrench, & all mtg. hardware ... 5.30 LBS.

26.01" Dia.
vs.
27.25" for 18" road wheels (17, 19, & 20's similar)

And YES ... the 17", 18", & 20" are ALL SEASON Tires ... 19" with Performance Pack are SUMMER.

Also, a "full size spare" will not fit down in the spare tire well in the trunk; it is close, but does not fit.

Mustang has not had a "full size spare" available since at least 1994 (SN95) if not 1979 (Fox body).

Thanks for the information, Dannyho!

My intention is to have the full-size spare loose in the trunk when I'm traveling so as someone else said on here, that I'm not stuck 150 miles or more from anywhere with a blowout, and to have it in the garage the rest of the time. Here in Texas you can't just sit there waiting for Roadside very comfortably (idling the car for long periods [so you have air-conditioning] damages the engine, according to the manual) for most of the year.

I already got that about the spare tire well not fitting the 20s---- I just am looking for the offset & backspacing so I could not be stuck buying from the limited selection of the local NTB/Discount Tire/Lamb's Tire & Auto/etc.

well I don't know for sure the offset of the 20x9's, but on the 19x9's the offset is 45mm. I would start there; I don't see why it would change much if at all. Hopefully someone else here can be more specific.
If not, you could always remove a rim from the car, the offset should be stamped on the backside somewhere, probably the spoke/hub.

An AR-15 and Glock 27 solve any problems waiting for Ford Roadside Assistance on remote roads. :eyebulge:

I'm in Texas, so such protection is a given.

Unfortunately, they don't keep you cool.

You had a Mustang II? I skipped right over that one, stopping at 1972 and not again until 1987.

Yes, I did. It was a little white one with a red interior, but not the original engine. It was my first car, so it served its purpose.

I had a Maverick Grabber for a long time. Guess they were about the same car.

I asked Ford this, and the response was this:

"we don't provide those specs, as they are considered proprietary. If you speak with your local dealer though, they should be able to locate a factory rim based on your VIN."

Great. #Sarcasm

Did you ever hear back from your salesguy? I've got the 20s, as well. Just want to price out an option. I routinely drive a populated corridor, but would be nice to throw a spare in on rare occasions when I travel well off the beaten path. Murphy tells me that's when I'm most likely to get a flat...

Salesguy didn't get the answer, he referred me to some local wheel/tire place.

I guess the answer to this is to rip a tire off and measure the offset and backspacing myself, but since I have never done it, I'm skeptical I can do it "correctly"--- or do the trial & error thing with wheels to see if they hit the brakes when you spin them on the car at Discount Tire or someplace.

Not what I was hoping for.

It's complete BS that *FORD* can't spout out the wheel specifications! :tsk: :mad:
