Flaming Hot ecoboost - not in a good way

My wife totaled her 2016 Ecoboost the other day. Some idiot made a left in front of her while going through an intersection. Car started smoking immediately and was engulfed in flames within 5 minutes. She's OK because she got out right away. I was surprised how fast this thing burned. The car was only 4 months old. We ordered this car because she wanted the DIB color and pony package. Now my wife is bummed out that the DIB is gone for 2017. Can't find a 2016 optioned like the one she had in the Phoenix area.

As long as she is ok-that is all that counts. Contact your dealer and have him do a national search for a similarly optioned car. The car may have burned quickly because a fuel line was severed in the accident, dumped fuel onto the hot exhaust and there's your immediate and quick fire. This doesn't mean this is an unsafely designed car.

I don"t know about you,but I have seen MANY pictures of the S550 model Mustangs either on fire or burned to a crisp,and 99% of them weren't in an accident,Shelbys,GT"s,Ecoboost,and you think that the S550"s design is safe,pictures speak differently.:amen:

What was the impact ? Doesn't look like a significant front end impact. Did the engine stay running or turn itself off ?

As for the 2017, I like the Lightning Blue just as well, at least if it is a metallic paint.

The car did stay running, my wife had to shut it off. She was doing 45 mph when she went through the intersection. The car that turned in front of her was a 2014 Chevy Cruze. They had three dogs in the car too. The dogs and the 2 people in the car were uninjured. I have 2 dogs and I am super cautious when I have them in the car. This is the car that hit her. You can see the left front damage from the car turning left in front of my wife.
