I'm hoping Ford are waiting for The Grand Tour to show the 2018 Mustang and tell us, despite all the new stuff and extra power, it's cheaper than the old one. Ford seemed to ramp up the cost of the '17 quite rapidly from this Spring, perhaps to allow them to introduce the '18 as a bargain.
Or I may simply have to pay an extra pot of money and it's just wishful thinking.
Sounds very wishful IMO. They would have to sell EVERY MY15-17 car they have on their forecourts to bring it out cheaper. Unless they dropped what they did have to 25-30k which would kill the second hand market.

It’s going to be very interesting how they play this, and by the looks of things they aren’t going to make it a enjoyable ordering experience again. They are lucky the car sells itself. With any other car with this type of ordering process I think they would of had a LOT of cancelled orders.
I’m still shocked they are happy to let this all happen again

Ford are a business, they're not going to sell the MY15-17's at a loss, they'll sell them as close to list as possible, but with a lot being in the market now, easier to get a discount, ford have constantly ramped up "new pricing" which is fine, but sometimes this has been for more profit, than just for others.
They're also not stupid, they won't want the used market to crash, as that in turn, effects the new car market.

MY18 will come, pricing will come, orders that are placed will be fulfilled, and do you want to know what? It'll make ford look fking brilliant, because that first batch and if orders are big, second batch. Will have around a 3month wait for them, which is nothing compared to the 7+ months My15-17 had.

Think of it like this, if ford announce pricing in Jan, and then Gibbo's car (First batch) comes in Apr, they look like they're improved a process, when in fact they've done their bit behind the scene, it just looks more efficient, the same then happens for the second batch, the timeframes look shorter.

Is pricing going to be much different to price is now? Only time will tell.

My guess is pricing will be within 3-4k of what it currently is, but if they "Need" to make profit, they'll do so on Optional extra's, things like mag ride will be "more" than what the US has them listed at, etc. That'll bring profit margins back up.

Hi there

My price prediction is still sub 40k (ÂŁ38,950 - ÂŁ39,950) without options and without road tax, to keep the car under the 40k bracket for tax rules, as I believe taxation price is calculated from base price and not price with options. Therefor expect 41-42k on the road price for a base V8.

So yes its more but factor in:
- Active exhaust (1k saved as no need for exhaust, maybe ÂŁ250 for resonator delete if you want more volume)
- Active DRLs (1k saved)
- Digital dash (cool option worth a few extra quid)

So yes it probably will be a couple of grand more, but Ford are giving you more than that in monetary value in upgrades and extras compared to outgoing model.

As to deliveries, I might see my car as early as February, which I am hoping is not true to be honest and just a glitch on Ford's part but if it gets built next month then February is likely, but ideally I am hoping its not true and won't be built until December/January as I don't want delivery really until March/April as I am quite enjoying flinging this Golf around. :D

Gibbo205 and now it's time to change your sig :(!

Feb would be quite something, but I think you're getting maybe the same sh1t I did with mine. Where ford provisionally put dates on cars just to have it in the system. It' snot 11th Nov as the build date is it? ;)

New Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 2 - US Specs

New Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 2 raises Mustang GT’s game and bridges the gap between GT Performance Pack and GT350

Performance Pack Level 2 is accentuated by a lower, more aggressive stance, aerodynamically balanced high-performance front splitter and rear spoiler – all designed to add more downforce to attack curves for an exhilarating feel behind the wheel

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, retuned steering and MagneRide® suspension deliver ultra-responsive road-gripping capabilities in new manual transmission-equipped Mustang GT with Performance Pack Level 2

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 23, 2017 – Evenings in the garage. Weekends at the track. Gearheads everywhere can appreciate the extra time and effort the Mustang team took to quickly prototype and hone the Performance Pack Level 2 for the new 2018 Ford Mustang GT.

“A passion to create something special is what really drove this project,” said Tom Barnes, Mustang vehicle engineering manager. “And that really showed in the off-the-clock way we went about doing our work.”

Longtime tire and wheel engineer Chauncy Eggleston led development of unique 19-inch wheels that help provide notable steering and handling response improvements. Mustang veteran Jonathan Gesek, former aerodynamics specialist at NASA and now with Ford’s aerodynamics group, spearheaded development of a high-performance front splitter and rear spoiler. And Jamie Cullen, Ford supervisor for vehicle dynamics development, led road test efforts to ensure the car delivers ultra-responsive steering, braking and handling performance.

The result of their covert efforts is available to order now and will reach North American showrooms this spring when pony car enthusiasts can get the new 2018 Ford Mustang GT with Performance Pack Level 2, a collection of drive-enhancing components designed for – and by – people who love the thrill of taking the wheel of a true performance car.

“It will just beg you to go faster,” said Cullen. “The car has lightning-quick response and never gives up grip.”

Performance Pack Level 2 includes all of the features of Performance Pack Level 1 – unique chassis and antilock brake tuning, unique stability control and electric power-assisted steering, Brembo™ six-piston front brake calipers with larger rotors, a k-brace, larger radiator, silver-painted strut tower brace and a TORSEN® rear differential with 3.73 axle ratio.

It’s highlighted by a lower stance, a redesigned front splitter and rear spoiler, and 305/30/R19 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires wrapped around split-fitment aluminum wheels – 19x10.5-inch front and 19x11-inch rear.

The tires, 1.5 inches wider than those found with Performance Pack Level 1, provide a firmer grip, and work with a retuned chassis to put the car more than a half-inch closer to the ground. The package is available exclusively with a manual transmission.

Custom tuned MagneRide® dampers and quicker steering calibration provide better response. Other improvements over Performance Pack Level 1 equipment include a 67 percent stiffer rear stabilizer bar, a 12 percent stiffer front stabilizer bar, 20 percent stiffer front springs and rear springs that are 13 percent stiffer, all of which contribute to a more stable ride around corners with less body roll.

Working a little moonlight magic

Critical to the success of the package is improved aerodynamics scores, which the team achieved by adding larger and lower front splitter and redesigned rear spoiler.

Gesek said the after-hours approach team members took to developing the Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 2 was so much fun because they set out to create their dream car.

“Our targets were aggressive,” he said, “and we nailed them.”

Using the splitter from the famed Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca as a benchmark, Mustang engineers attached the piece to the underside of the front to fan out as much as 3 inches around the corners of the Mustang GT. It creates about 24 pounds of downforce at 80 mph, helping give the car its exceptional grip. To balance the downforce, a subtle, redesigned rear spoiler stretches across the decklid.

To assist in the team’s innovative approach to creating the new Performance Pack, parts such as the rear spoiler were rapid-prototyped using a 3D printer. The process enabled faster turnaround times, complementing the trial-and-error nature of the project.

The only visual cues on a car outfitted with the new Performance Pack Level 2 are black detailing on the splitter and spoiler, the tire spat on the back edge of the rear wheel wells and the 10-spoke Dark Tarnish wheels, which are exclusive. Customers who opt for Performance Pack Level 2 have a unique opportunity to select Recaro® seats in either leather or cloth to help stay firmly planted while cornering.

Sounds really good that it has separate tuning for the chassi.

But I don't think we will get the car in Europe.... :(

I think it looks really good as well

No and the build looks quite real, as the spec will be locked (not changeable) and car has a VIN/Chassis number, which when this happened on MY15 then it was 100% in build process.

This is probably why its hush hush, because I am ordering blind, the car will be built and I still have no idea what it cost until its probably on the boat. Could even be a case those who are ordering could end up with MY18 a good six months before anyone else. As I am now hearing most dealerships are now no longer taking orders.

I have simply told my dealership the car won't be collected until March 1st earliest which they are fine with, as I want it on the new reg and I am in no rush to be frank, I am really enjoying the Golf rocket ship, which I might even end up keeping as its outright performance is nothing but addictive, being able to do 60 in sub 4s in the wet is just so good and being small and lightweight its a lot of fun, but when cruising its a Golf, very comfy and the easiest car I've ever driven. :)

Am hoping the new 10 speed means sub 4s (dry) is easily dispatched by just flooring it and it don't try to spin out every time I go loud pedal. :D

Correct.

PP2 won't come to Europe, if it does it shall be an end of year run out like Ford did with the Shadow Pack cars in Europe.

It is a shame, I'd love me some cloth Recaro's rather than leather, feel they look much nicer.

On the plus side you will be able to spec a UK car with mag ride and then order the following from US:

- Ford GT 350 springs lowering kit or GT 350 or PP2 springs
- Ford GT 350 or PP2 front and rear anti-roll bars.
- Uprated DSC controller for mag ride (this takes it beyond GT 350 spec and is not really needed but is available from DSC)
- wheel / tyre, you can fit whatever combination you wish.
- PP2 front splitter, it will be a direct fit, or whichever you prefer, Steeda, Cervini etc.

In short you can do it yourself by buying the parts from Ford, keep an eye on Levittown as they are very good at adding new parts to their catalogue from the Ford lineup.

That will give you the re-tuned chassis dynamics Ford like to advertise it as. :)

This PP2 needs pictures:

Looks ace and I really like that front splitter, guess I shall be grabbing myself one of those or the Cervini. :)

Those are the first snaps I've seen of the MY18 which I think it looks good. Really hope this is available in the UK, as I could be seriously tempted finances permitting.

It won't be.

You will need to buy the front splitter from US and retrofit to a UK car.

As to wheels and lowering, again buy the wheels you like or use spacers on stock wheels and get a set of lowering springs if going mag ride or complete new suspension if you don't have mag ride.

That PP2 car actually looks... good. All is not lost with that front end; it just needs tweaking.

Yep, still not sure on the hood but it does seem a nice aggressive front splitter and the car a touch lower seems to make a world of difference.

My guess is due to the more sleek/aggressive styling it kind of looks all out of place on a car at standard height with the standard front splitter, the ride height and splitter need to be more inline with the more aggressive looks so it fits together.

I shall be ordering the PP2 splitter once available and need to decide if I want the PP2 spoiler or the lovely GT 350 one. Looks like levvitown is gonne be getting a nice order from me next month, so far:
- PP2 splitter
- GT 350 track spoiler
- 3M black side decals
- GT 350 lowering springs
- GT 350 anti-roll bars (MAYBE)
- FRPP oil separator (need to confirm which one fits)
- GT 350R brake kit

I've already got my SCT X4, K&N filter ready and will probably grab another set of Ispiri wheels.

That should see the car looking and stanced the way I want.

In short I am aiming for a GT 350 styled MY18, but of course a much quicker car due to the A10 and extra torque.

Yep and glad its Ford, so the damn thing will just bolt up nicely and actually provide downforce like they say.

Why I try to stick to the Ford stuff where possible, guaranteed good quality and easy fitment. Plus helps come re-sale time when its all Ford/Shelby stuff or something good, the new owner to my car was very impressed by it having KW as he knew thats top dollar suspension and no cheap junk.
